Review Summary: With this album, Dylan clearly establishes himself as one of the top 5 rappers of all time, or is that THE top 5 rappers of all time?
Dylan John first came to our attention on the reality show Making the Band 2: Da Band and who would've thought that the acne-riddled reggae singer would turn out to be a star? With his spectacular debut, Dylan proves that he is not only one of the best five rappers of all time, he IS the best five rappersof all time and after hearing this album you will agree that all other rappers out there are battling for sixth place.
The greatness of Dylan is on full display with the track "Not a Sugar Cookie Getter" with lyrics like:
"I'm the best there is, no one can do it better, I didn't get into the game to be a sugar cookie getter" simply astounding lyricism. It seems like running all those errands for Diddy really paid off, I mean do you really think that he would be able to write songs like these if he didn't have to take pictures with a midget? holding ballons? Absolutely not. Songs like "Don't Get Too Close Mon" could not have been done by someone who did NOT milk a Cambodian immigrant.
What's amazing about Dyaln and what really separates him from the pack is that not only does he rip when he rhymes(as shown on "I Rip When I Rhyme") but he also rhymes when he rips(as shown on "I Rhyme when I Rip"). He definitely is spitting some hot fire. This is a no-doubt-about-it must have for all rap enthusiast, hell for ANY fan of music in general, listen to it and you can argue with your friends about who the SIXTH best rapper of all time is.
