Review Summary: Turns out I do like Futurama enough.
Get Get Go and Archeopteryx are both two-piece screamo bands. The only release by the bands is this split EP, a collection of really angry songs. Archeopteryx happen to share a member with Loma Prieta, which just adds to how awesome this split is. Unlike many screamo bands, Get Get Go and Archeopteryx don't sound like upset teenagers complaining about their low allowance. Instead the bands make some of the angriest music in the genre.
The EP starts with Get Get Go, who play a vicious and violent form of screamo throughout seven short tracks. With both bands just using vocals, guitar and drums it's surprising how heavy the songs are. Though the songs are not varied, they do not bore. The short burst of anger of Breakdown, the longer deafening of If You Live Forever, You'd Die of Cancer Anyways and the other five Get Get Go tracks make for a fu/cking good side of the EP, none of the songs letting up for one moment.
Archeopteryx on the other hand play a much more distorted brand of screamo, with noticeable grind and metal influences throughout. If you were about to go and fu/ck some people up, this is the band you'd listen to on the way to do it. The sharing of a member with Loma Prieta is noticeable on Archeopteryx's sound, with the relentlessness of the music invoking chaos and noise with feedback and powerful vocals. Unlike Get Get Go, Archeopteryx occasionally have two vocalists inter playing off each other, and an extra guitar layer adding a subtle yet complete sound to the band's songs.
This EP is a perfect example of why the amount of members and instruments in a band don't equal to the quality of the music. If you like screamo, you should get this.
