Review Summary: Absolutely fantastic album, once again done by the Trio. A must-get for new or old Trio fans!

So looking into some (amazing) Pop-punk eh?
Well you've obviously come to the right place.

Good Mourning, is just about my favorite album by Alkaline Trio. This is Alkaline Trio's fourth studio album, released in 2003, following their album From Here to Infirmary in 2001.

The album first opens up with "This Could Be Love". An amazing song, with one of the best, darkest lyrics I've heard in a long time! Especially from a pop punk band.
It always gets me when Matt Skiba sings "This could be love...." then Dan Andriano comes singing "Love for fire."
Great opener for the album. It really gives the dark mood for the album.
After that, "We've Had Enough" comes in. Again, great song too. The song opens with a really fast, dark guitar riff with blaring drums.
This song really matches with "This Could be love" as it contributes much to the mood, also starring Keith Morris from Black Flag and the Circle Jerks on backing vocals.

After two songs with Matt Skiba on lead vocals, Dan now comes in on "One Hundred Stories."
Dan's voice just seems to bring a lighter mood to the album, but if you listen to the vocals, it isn't.
With Matt now backing up Dan on vocals, this song is just great. Great introduction for Dan.
Next is "Continental." Matt takes the vocals again, opening with a fast, light guitar riff "I've got a dying urge to feel the way you do."
Obviously that's self-explanatory for the album. One of my favorite songs on the album. I always seem to bob my head when Matt sings "You had nine lives and one by one you chewed them up."

Next up is "All on Black." Just the song title, sounds pretty dark by itself. Matt is still on vocals, after a little guitar riff. His voice seems a bit raspier on this song, than the rest of the album for some reason. But it contributes to such a wonderful lyrics.
"Sweet blasphemy, my giving tree, it wasn't rained in years. I bring you this sacrificial offering of virgineers."

Right after, "Emma" is sung by Dan again. This song is pretty poppy and upbeat considering the rest of the album. Again, one of my personal favorites. This song is pretty self-explanatory, just listen to it!

Now "Fatally yours" comes on right after. Matt suddenly just comes back with his raspy vocals, and dark lyrics.

"Every Thug Needs a Lady" has to be one of my favorite songs with Dan singing. The album just suddenly goes from dark, to just kinda mellow or melancholy.
Again, self-explanatory. Great song.

With Dan singing again, next up is "Blue Carolina." I wasn't really in love with this song. It has nice lyrics, but not a really nice tune. This is more of a romantic song considering the lyrics "Well I can hardly wait until I feel the sun and your lips full caressing on my skin."

Now back to Matt singing "Donner Party (All Night Long)" Great step up from Blue Carolina. Just fast guitar riffs, loud drumming, and not to mention great lyrics, this song is just a step up.
According to Wikipedia, "The Donner Party was a group of California-bound American emigrants caught up in the "westering fever" of the 1840s. After becoming snowbound in the Sierra Nevada in the winter of 1846–1847, some of them resorted to cannibalism."
The lyrics show somewhat of the event.

The last song with Dan singing, it's "If We Never Go Inside." The song seems a little bit darker than the other songs sung by Dan, "Were you planning on staying forever? You don't fit in this hole, or don't you remember? Hold your breath Walk, don't run, through the graveyard"

And finally, last but not least, it's the acoustic "Blue in the Face." This seems to match the ending for the album. "And you can't breathe without coughing at daytime And neither can I So what do you say? Your coffin, or mine?"

This album was an amazing Pop-punk experience, and I'm still looking forward to hearing more Alkaline Trio through the years! Get this album! If you're new to Alkaline Trio, this album is great to start out with.

Cheers,
Benson

Great album, Emma is one of Dan's best songs.
Review is hugely fanboyish though, and most of the songs are barely explained. If you're going to do a track by track (which you probably shouldn't) you have to elaborate a lot more.

this band sucks, this statement doesn't require any explanation.
