This album was only released in the U.K. back in the 60's. This album was realeased around when Beatlemania was just starting, and sold half a million in advance. It is more of a poppy, bubblegum Beatles album, but still very enjoyable and great. The only problem is the songs kinda sound the same, and are all really short.
It Won't Be Long- This is a great album-opener;fast and pulsing. John Lennon sings lead and his powerful voice works great on this song. He's basically just saying how he is gonna get his girlfriend back. This song get's annoying after a few listens, though.
All I've Got To Do- This a nice slower song, catchy, like most of the Beatles' songs. Possibly a good song to play for a girl.
All My Loving- A classic Beatles song, a powerful triplet guitar jangles through the background of this song, and George Harrison takes a nice chord solo. A high point of the album that seems to come quickly. One of my favorite early Beatles songs.
Don't Bother Me- This is one of George Harrison's songs, and for me, alot of his songs are you either you like it or you don't. Nice little rock "n" roll guitar break in the middle of this song. Overall, I really like this song, it's got a laid-back vibe to it.
Little Child- This is a bluesier song, piano and harmonica for a change, kind of a good song to dance too....great song overrall.
Till There Was You- This song is actually tooken from a broadway musical. A nice little acoustic song to settle things down halfway through the album. Kind of poppy, but good listen.
Please Mister Postman- This is a cover of a motown hit, very enjoyable, but a more bubblegummy song than anything. Another song that I think is great.
Roll Over Beethoven- A rock "n" roll classic-this song is just as classic as it gets. The lead guitar breaks are very cool. One of the first songs I learned on guitar actually. I could put this one on repeat for a while.
Hold Me Tight- I really don't like this song that much, it is just kinda corny and seems like an unoriginal thing to sing about.
You Really Got A Hold On Me- A nice little ballad about how much he loves a girl but she's bitter at times. Another great one with Lennon on lead.
I Wanna Be Youre Man- A fast paced strong song, the Stones made this song popular because the Beatles gave it to them. A few rebel yells in there.
Devil In Her Heart- Nice little chord solo in the start. Another one of those songs about a girl that plays guys, it's an alright song.
Not A Second Time- Another ballad, nice Piano playing throughout the song, it's an alright song, but generally boring.
Money- Great motown song to end the album, Lennon really soars vocally on this song, one of the Beatles best album enders.
Overall, this album shows the Beatles rising to soaring fame, and is great for any Beatles fan. 4.5
