Review Summary: Unconsecrated the first ever full length album by this Geelong local Deathcore band,
Starts with a huge bang! Also finishes off killer though a couple of songs have a bit more to offer but the rest is fairly repeatitive, Definately worth a listen to.
Many bands would have called it quits if they had lost their vocalist and most of their equiptment, but these guys just showed how big their balls were by supporting I Killed The Prom Queen in their "Say Goodbye Tour" only months after this tragedy had taken place.
Which now leeds me to Unconsecrated the first ever studio album by The Red Shore.
Personally i thaught this album was a s**t storm off brutality but majorly lacked melody and from a band that is considered Deathcore melody is crucial, The drumming as usual were excelently executed by Jake Green the riffs are pretty repeatetive and dont show much variety and change.
Though this album also had many good points the vocals of Jamie Hope are very similar to that of Damo but much more heavier and you will notice that he doesn't squeal at all in this album whick is a bit of a change to what Red Shore fans may be used to but still sounds very good.
The album includes guest appearances by many great vocalists such as Hernan "Eddie" Hermida of All Shall Perish, Brandan Schieppati of Bleeding Through, Karl Schubach of Misery Signals and Daniel Weyandt of Zao. Overall this album is worth a listen to at least once but not really something to put on your mp3 player to listen to all the time.
We're revisiting the past when opening up the album with an old favourite The Garden Of Impurity. Comparing the old version to the new would be a good way to find out the changes this band has made though I must say the newer one would have to win in my books because the vocals just sound so much more heavier and clean.
Song number two Misery Hymn I quite enjoyed listening to this song it has a bit more to offer by throwing in a very well proposed solo and has absoloutely mental drumming I would recomend this song as one you should listen to if you're a new listener of this band.
Decption: Prologue not really the most exciting song of the album it includes some heavy screams and good drumming though lacks a lot of change with a very similar sounding riff throughout the whole song.
The drumming on track four Slain By The serpent is absoloutely amazing it really just shows you why this bands drummer could very be considered one of the best in this music scene, the song is a delightfull change its more exciting than the last song and more intersting.
When you think the next song with such big names in this industry you would think that The Architects Of Repulsion would stand out above all the other songs on this album, honestly beside the screams which everyone knows these vocalists are very capable of killer screams, this song is pretty plain, the only thing that would make me listen to this song is just to hear all these great singers in one song as for itself not so great.
Your Chariot Awaits and Rise And Fall, besides the slight differences in the guitar fiffs these songs are very similar and not the most interesting, not really my favourites, i would not listen to them again.
Listening to Nephilim the first time gave me goosebumps (and still does) it just gets me every time its not the difficulty of the song it just the way they play it, Killer Song!
Last song of the album Vehemence The Phoenix I really meant it when i said they really ended it with a bang this song is pretty amazing its got a different sound to majority of the album, really good song to listen to i highly recommend it.
To conclude my review i think that this album did have its good parts but like many albums it does have its bad parts unfortunately this had a few too many, one thing that dissapointed me was lack of squeels and highs, its all low stuff it gets a bit repeatative,
