Release Date: 2005 | Tracklist

A four piece rock band with charisma, talent, and energy; welcome to Ra, the Egyptian Sun God. Fifteen tracks of diverse rock with obscene drum lines and vocals make it simplistic to listen to. They have a certain resemblence to Sting. Second album=leads to second success.

Music is life for Sahaj, lead singer, who expresses his fears and desires that has roots in India 14 years ago.

"Duality" explores the dark side of songs like "Fallen Angels" with its paranioa infected wounds. (A chart topper soon as well) The aching despair of "I Lost Everything" although when they sing it, they seem to happy to be saying they lost everything. Get the sex rush from "Got Me Going" and the all famous cover, "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic."

Ra has many influences in my opnion. Metallica for power. Queen and Sting for complexity. As well as System of a Down for music melodies.

"Duality" is divided into two parts, "Fear" (track 1) and "Love" (track 8) both less than a minute each, show hope and despair. Intesity of "Take Me Away" with howling guitars and tribal beats contirdict with the reggae beat of "I Lost Everything." Middle Eastern flare of "The Only One" and wrenching distortion of "Taken" forms a counterpoint with "Swimming Upstream" with a degree of sweat and regret.

"Superman" talks about God with the statement, "Thank you God, for this great oppurtunity." Although, isn't India Hindu or Buddist. I like how Sahaj truned a new leaf. I have opnions on God myself, but I rather keep them quiet.

Take notice because with Duality, Ra will see a dawn greater than India can provide.

4/5

I love Fallen Angels and I reall liked "From One" so I will probably pick this up. On the review a little more information on the songs might be helpful.

I found this CD excellent too! They seem to have an almost middle easteern sound to their music. Its amazing, and the vocals are great. And the song "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" is a remake of Sting, and is no less better. I found this CD for only $7 at Best Buy too. Definetely a 'best buy'.This Message Edited On 08.27.05

I just got this CD and I am very dissapointed. After the promise they showed on "From One" I expected the follow up to show some huge steps in their musical maturity. Instead at times I feel like they took steps backward to become more radio friendly, (Fallen Angels vs. Do You Call My Name). Thats not to say that the album didn't have some of the maturity, but it just doesn't have enough to make it a vast improvement over "From One"

i just got this album the other day, and i dig it but not as much as "from one". i agree with the above comment and say that i think they went a little media safe rather than experimenting. good review.

On my local radio station (you can listen online at 989thebear.com) Sahaj the lead singer has been here all this week hanging out on the morning show, and it was really cool, i got to talk to him on air. But all that beside, the new single The Only One, is kinda of a double edged sword, I would have said something earlier, but not everyone had heard it when i first commented. On the one hand, it is a really catchy, really cool song, on the other hand, they take some lyrics right from Do You Call My Name which is really annoying, and doesnt help the song get a great lyrical feel from that song on, but thats my humble opinion.

There is only ONE line in The Only One taken from Do You Call My Name, and it really wasn't a big deal. I liked it when that part came on.

I think the album is great, and it does have more of a pop feel to it, but that isn't a big deal, still a good buy.
