Nimrod is Green Day’s London Calling, Words of Mike Dirnt. In this album, Green Day played around with new sounds, A softer, more mature sound. They were no longer just a punk band from the bay area. Songs like Redundant, Scattered ,Worry Rock,Uptight, Last Ride In, Walking Alone and Time of Your Life all have a new sound to which Green Day has never shown, which became very popular and reached there audience to people of all ages. This album basically comes at a time where Billie wants to be more than just a punk. He’s married, Has Kids, and It is time for him and the band to “Grow Up”

* = Single

*Nice Guys Finish Last

-Great song. Gives the album a great start with Tre’s Drumming. I believe this was the first single off this album. 4/5

*Hitchin A Ride

- Violin intro, makes me want to change the song at first, But the song really picks up and turns into one of my favorites on the album. I like the bass line in the song, the verse sounds very cool. 5/5

The Grouch

- Starts out with a clean guitar and Billie singing. This has a chorus that gets stuck in my head “Wasted youth and a fistful of ideas, I had a young and optimistic point of view” Also has a neat guitar solo in it. 3/5

*Redundant

- Classic love song written by Billie. The song is about loving someone so much, that they find them self doing the same thing to show there love, hence “I love you’s not enough, now I’m lost for words” Great song. 4/5

Scattered

- The intro will get your attention, Good song, but not one of my favorites. Does have a nice break down in it though, the bass sounds cool in it. 3/5

All the Time

- The whole song is just catchy. This really got stuck in my head. Good song. Not great, but good. 3/5

Worry Rock

- Great song. Mike’s bass line during the chorus in this song is brilliant. This song reminds me of The Beatles for some reason, especially the ending. 4/5

Platypus (I Hate You)

- Woah! Extremely fast song , Full of bad words. Not one of my favorite songs, but something I’ve never heard Green Day sing before. 3/5

Uptight

- I like this song a lot. Not great, but good. I believe this song is about suicide. Has a catchy guitar solo. 3.5/5

*? Last Ride In

- A very relaxing song. Very soothing guitar and bass riffs. Also has sounds of waves from the beach. The brass instruments in this song are great as well. This song does have a music video, not sure if it was a single though. 4/5

Jinx

- A weak song. A filler. I don’t like this song too much. This is the albums weak spot. 3/5

Haushinka

- Good song. Jinx flows into this song. Has a strong start. Cool intro guitar riff. The chorus will get stuck in your head. Good song. 3.5/5

Walking Alone

- Good use of the harmonica. Easy going bass line. One of my favorites. Good song 4/5

Reject

- Billie wrote this song after a fans mom wrote him telling him his music sent such a bad message. Not at bad song, I’d call it a filler, But the fillers on this album are actually damn good fillers. 3/5

Take Back

- Reminds me of Platypus. Billie has a very haunting voice in the chorus in this song. Different from what Green Day normally sings, like Platypus. A very short song as well. 2.5/5

King for A Day

- This is an AWSOME song. The Trumpets and horns are awesome in this song. The bass line is perfect. One of Green Days best live performed songs as well. The chorus makes you want to shout. A ska song by Green Day that is fabulous. 5/5

*Good Riddance (Time of your Life)

- One of the best songs of all time. Its constantly used at Graduations, Proms and class songs. Its been used in the last episode of Seinfeld as well. Great Violin. And billie does a great job on the acoustic as well as his lyrics. Hands down, this song is a 5/5

Prosthetic Head

- I Like how they chose this song to end the album on, instead of Time of your Life. Very good song. One of the best. Catchy song. Starts out with a guitar being plugged to an amp. Great ending to a Great Album. 4/5

This is Probably Green Day’s most important album ever. An album Green Day is very proud of and they definitely should be. Overall, I give this album a 4/5

Best Songs:
Nice Guys Finish Last
Hitchin a Ride
Redundant
King for A Day
Good Riddance
Prosthetic Head

Cool review, cool album. *Thumbs Up*
Maybe go a bit further into some of the songs in the track-by-track but other than that it's pretty good.

Green Day's worst album, in my books. This isn't their London Calling, this is there Sandinista!, to some extent. It's messy, and has no direction whatsoever.

Decent enough review.

This is Probably Green Day’s most important album ever.

Um, no. Kerplunk, Dookie and American Idiot are. Nimrod is a stale, boring album with little to offer besides "Good Riddance".This Message Edited On 07.04.05This Message Edited On 07.04.05

i've got to disagree with the last two posters.... i love nimrod... by far my favorite green day album (i haven't heard kerplunk or slappy hours yet, though). important... i'd disagree, because american idiot has given them the most stardom yet... best overall, it gets my vote.

When i said Nimrod is there most important album, Im saying that from there point of view. Maturing into adults, and having familes and being able to pull off slow songs like Good Riddance and Walking alone. It was an album of more Diversity and an album that at the time gave them more looks from a more pop crowd.

An edit to my review. The song "Reject" Has a pretty awsome little bass solo in it.

This is probably my favorite Green Day album. "Platypus", and "King For a Day" are my favorite songs off the album. I strongly disagree with the person who said that this is a stale album.

i agree with eliminatorjr that this is their sandinista(or end of the century if you know the ramones). they change their sound so much it sounds boring. theres only really 2 or 3 well written songs.

That's not what I meant at all by calling it their Sandinista! instead of their London Calling.

Nimrod > Dookie

After listening to these albums many years, and many different times.

The lyrics are surprisingly great. (Especially after 'Insomniac's lyrics)

Green Day peaked with their old punk style here. They moved on after this, but this album is still a great listen.

This is obviously Green Day's best album. It's a consistent shot of good songs. There are some bad ones though....This Message Edited On 09.14.05This Message Edited On 09.14.05

I hated Haushinka until I heard the part "Will she ever find her way, I'm too damn young to be too late, but am I..." Now all I do is fast forward till it gets to that part.

I think Nimrod is one of thier best.
