This album exemplifies exactly what true rock music is. The Kings of Leon prodcue an album that is worthy to be called "outstanding." This album has improved since "Youth and Young Manhood," supported by the wonderful lyrics of Caleb Followill, the sloppy, yet sophisticated guitar by Matthew Followill, the creative basslines by Jared Followill, and the simple, yet effective drum stylings of Nathan Followill.
The Songs:
"Slow Night, So Long": This song is a perfect song to show the true feelings of one to another. I feel that this is a perfect song to represent the problems experienced with girls and what the life has in store for each and every person. (9/10)
"King of the Rodeo": The guitar lines in this song is very simple yet it compliments the lyrics very well. "King of the Rodeo" talks about enjoying life and making the most of it. (9/10)
"Taper Jean Girl": An exadurated version of girls and the problems that come with them. I really enjoy this song quite a bit. (9/10)
"Pistol of Fire": This song is a classic in the making; a true rock song. The guitar solo in this song is marvelous. "Pistol of Fire" shows qualities that describe attitudes towards another and the enjoyment of life, that's my understanding. (10/10)
"Milk": A very powerful song with lots of meaning. Not only does it represent the emotional imbalance of love, but also shows the qualities needed to possess strong character. (10/10)
"The Bucket": This song is a bit difficult to understand, but is also a brilliant creation. This song is about the things that occur once you are famous, as in the pro's and con's of being known everywhere. This is a fabulous song, really. (9/10)
"Soft": This song has to be out of personnal experience. Basically this song talks about being in the state of taking two many drugs and fawning over a girl. (9/10)
"Razz": I read that this song was written by Caleb to represent Jared. However, this song to me, talks about teenagers and their lives, practically- the emotional and physical changes. The bassline in this song is very good, not to mention absolutely catching. (10/10)
"Day Old Blue": When I heard this song for the first time I thought, "It's possible to sing that high?" This song talks about the downside of life, possibly. I see a side that may represent how life might fall apart, but will come back together eventually. (9/10)
"Four Kicks": This is my favorite song off of the whole album. The guitar lines are amazing and make you want to play "air guitar." Seriously, the guitar solo will blow your mind. This song to me represents how two men are going to fight over a girl. The chorus reminds me of what one of the guys might say to the other. This song is absolutely fabulous! (10/10)
"Velvet Snow": This song might represent drugs and their everlasting effects. I feel very convinced that this song is 100% true. (9/10)
"Re-Memo": This song is like a memoir of possible encounters with groupies or possible suspense of jail time. Overall, a great song. (9/10)
This fabulous album should be owned by everyone! A very enjoyful album full of charismatic values. EXCELLENT!
