Nonpoint is:
elias soriano--vocals
robb rivera----drums
andrew goldman-guitar / vocals
kb-------------bass
Produced and recorded by jason bieler
mixed by tom lord-alge
MCA Records
this cd was released in 2001, but is the best nonpoint cd to date
this band kinda has their own sound, i cant really compare them to anyone i know of so if you can, please do
youve probably heard them on NASCAR vid. games so... here we go
Mindtrip: the first 25 seconds are the best on this song, lotsa screaming and great guitar riffs, the rest is more good guitar but the repetitive singing kills the track 2.5/5
Victim: awesome and catchy guitar riffs, great verse riff; gotta love the wah in it, writing is nothing special but great singing and screaming(more like yelling actually), great song ----5/5
Endure: once again goldman delivers awesome guitar work, nothing too complicated but perfect for headbanging, great singing too, as you can tell i play guitar so forgive the lack of expertise on bass and drums. another bad a** song ----5/5
Back Up: This song is another great track, fast heavy in chourus, not so heavy in verse but still good, there is even a solo in this song which is loaded with wah effects but fits the song, yet another good song ----5/5
What A Day: this starts with a weird clean guitar riff, then breaks into the distorted part of the same riff, again the writing kills the song with elias basically talking about having a bad day, the music really carries this song----3.5/5
Mislead: this song is very misleading, the intro sounds great, but the rest of the song is terrible, off key screaming that doesnt fit the song----2/5
DoubleStakked: another weird but catchy riff to start the song followed with an equally catchy bass line, writing sucks again but fits nicely in the song, it then breaks down into a slow letter (thats how its written in the booklet, like a letter) gets heavy again, nice little solo, then fades out----3.5/5
Orgullo: starts out w/ fast screaming power chords, then the screaming starts, and surprise!!! its in spanish, as you can guess more catchy guitar and bass with good vocals by goldman and elias, great song----4.5/5
Years: starts with clean singing and clean and distorted guitars alternating in, chorus is sung very well and is very catchy, very well written song----4/5
Hive: starts w/ thrash-like guitar at first but then slows back down to moderate pace, verse is full of yelling, chorus is kind of annoying untill he screams "go!", then it picks up again and breaks into a little groove-like thing, the final breakdown is really cool too, another good song 4/5
Levels: starts with beautiful little riff, other instruments slowly come in and then it breaks into typical nonpoint, good writing good singing good everything, great song----5/5
Tribute: before you right this off as a gay rap cover listen to the first riff, crazy..., this song also features the lead singer of darwins waiting room(?) but basically him and elias scream their way through the semi-covers, all the while goldman and co. a backing w/ great music, very cool cover----4.5/5
pros:
-great use of wah and artificial harmonics by the guitarist, he makes his own signature sound i love and have yet to find anywhere else
-good singing and yelling
-cool bass lines
-nothing is really forced except on mislead
-spanish heavy metal!!! m/
cons:
-poor writing
-dont know what orgullo is about
sorry for the use of the word "catchy" being overused, but that is the best way for me to describe their sound
one of the first metal cd's i ever bought and i still love it
ps: this is my first review so any pointers would be appreciated
if you want i also have their newer albums and can review those too, just ask
