Atreyu is a band out of California. That is really geneeral because there is tons of bands out of California but anyway.... If I were to class them, I'd put them under Metalcore. Simply because they are like hardcore but heavier than other hardcore groups like FATA or PtW.
Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses was released off of Victory Records in 2002. It was their first REAL album after releasing two EP's (Fractures In The Facade of Your Porcelain Beauty and Visions).Overall, I LOVE THIS ALBUM!!! Even though, I thought The Curse was even better with lots of improvements, I still really enjoy this album. I can't keep it out of my walkman.
Track 1. a song for the optimists - a great intro song. Lots of freaky lead guitar in the chorus. It's also 4:39, which is long for Atreyu. Good use of double bass in the verse
Track 2. Dialated - I love the lyrics in this song. Kind of depressing though. Good sounding chorus line by Saller on this track.
Track 3 - Ain't Love Grand - This one was a single. i really like the video. not one of my favourite songs though. the instrumentals are too heavy for the singing. not a very good chorus either
track 4 - Living each day like your already dead - one of my favourite songs on this CD. good heavy verse. The thing i like about this song the is later in the song when both the guitar start scaling up and down at different frets and makes an amazing sound when combined. best sounding guitar in the whole album.
Track 5 - Deanne the arsonist - Nicely done intro guitar. a slower chorus that sounds really good. love the bridge in this track.
Track 6 - Someone's Standing on my chest - This is where the songs start to the really closely to eachother. The chorus has a really different style to it.
Track 7 - At least i know im a sinner - a lot of people passed this off as anti-religios song. But Alex denied that completely. Anyway, this song features guest singer Efrem Schulz in which i really dont like. I love the chprus in this track though.
Track 8 - Tulips are better - an excellent song, has to do with how good looks can be deceiving. The intro is a lot different than the other tracks. really kool and differetn song.
track 9 - a vampires lament - awesome heavy intro, really heavy track. Yet again though, many of the songs sound close together.
track 10 - lip gloss and black - the other single off this CD. Starts off with an awesome intro riff. it's one of my favourite choruses in this album too. brandon saller really hits it home on this one.
hopefully this review is good enough for all you little ***s that have nothing better to do than diss other peoples reviews
