Believe it or not, Rammstein aren't very popular in Germany...
I don't know why though.
Contrary to popular belief, Rammstein are NOT nazis, and have never written a political song in their careers.
"It has been so silly," Flake explained. "That was just a photo of us - not some political statement! The German media sometimes gets carried away with such things. There was even one critic who said that the way Till rolls his 'r's' when he sings is supposed to mimic the way that Hitler used to speak! How silly can they get. We've never written a political song in our life, and we probably never will. It's just reverse discrimination because we are German. Kraftwerk had the same thing happen to them twenty years ago. If we were Spanish or Dutch, there would be no problem."
~TRACK BY TRACK~
Mein Herz Brennt
this song is very melodic whist maintaining a high level of energy, and is concentrating mostly on a solid power chord riff too sustain credibility. very catchy, and entertaining, as with all Rammstein songs, I have no idea what they are talking about, but I like it all the same.

This is a powerful song driven not only by guitar but overpowering drums. The lyrics sound evil in parts, but that's part of the magic that is Rammstein. In parts they do however give off the impression of sounding like nazis....but they denounce that regime in (some of) their songs. This mixes in technoish parts also, and sounds great:thumb:

Sonne
This song has a very similar guitar part to Mein Herz Brennt, but only in certain parts. the chorus is very melodic, and with the techno parts, sounds angelic...in a very hellish sort of way. The chorus relies on a line then a number. Till never reaches 10, but in the chorus as in the beginning of the song is counting. the beginning opens (in german) "1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 OUT" can someone tell me what 10 is in german (pronounciation)

Ich Will
Again, a power-driven song, drums and keyboard are present through the verses, and the chours/interlude are in great energy. the lyrics sound somewhat depressing, however, they keep the song in great energy. My only problem is that they come off very monotonous in parts.

Feuer Frei
Whwen he sings this it sounds like he's saying fire fly...and he's on with "Bang! Bang!" a lot in this one. Lyrics have a lot more energy put into them this time, the music is powerful and much faster than the previous song(s). I enjoy it.
3.9/5
Mutter
This is close to the best song on the album. It has very nice guitar work, and although it contains them, this song fails to rely on power chords to play the music. The guitarist is showing much better ability on this song than in previous songs. The title, translated, means 'Mother', and the impression is given (again, with me not knowing any German) that this is a very emotional song. The album's Title track, and my personal favourite. Musically it is the best on the album, and the structure is excellent.
5/5
Spieluhr
This song opens with Till talking, it osunds like he's telling a story...I have no idea though:( this returns to the power chord-driven music, this incorporates techo a bit, and is sounds like computerized voices. This song gives another impression of great emotion for till, but I can only assume. a well constructed song, good melody incorporated.

Zwitter
Ok, first off, I'm confused as to what this song is actually about (as with ALL Rammstein songs) but I know that the title of this song, literally translated means
hermaphrodite its weird and I'm not sure I want to know what it's about. This is one of the faster songs on the CD, nice (however uncomplicated) drumming, and again, power chords are prominent. It's constructed better than most on the CD though, which is a plus!
4/5
Rein Raus
Another interesting song, and it sounds more like a chant with music, than an actual song, however, it works well for them. A well crafted song, that could have been taken in many directions, the one that they chose works, however, it still works! not the greatest on the album, not the worst either.
3/5
Adios
This is another song that shows talent from the guitarists (in the beginning anyway) turns into what almost sounds like a punk song infused with metal. It has a nice beat to it, and the drumming is very prominent. Till sings faster here than anywhere else in the cd, and it's weird/interesting to listen to. it's a great song though.
3.75/5
Nebel
This song starts out quietly with windchimes in the background. then comes in an almost hip-hop/rap beat and till singing over it. it's interesting to listen too. It has a very slow beat to it, and incorporates Till's voice well. during the chorus, it gets very heavy, but remains melodic and slow. its a great song that is deserving of great applause. (well maybe not applause, but certainly appreciation)

MY RATING: 3.25/5
This is a great CD, easy to listen to, easy to get into etc. My only complaint is Rammstein's need to use powerchords as the music for virtually all of their songs. it's gets repetitive after a while, and it sounds boring after 7 or 8 songs. Mutter and (the beginning of) Adios are examples of how talented the guitarists are, but also how they don't show it in thier music.
All in all, I liked this CD, and would recommend it to you if you were a fan of Rammstein. (or most industrial metal in general)
