Review Summary: AILD's Frail Words Collapse is good whether you like brutal or melodic metalcore but it does start getting repetitive.
FIrst of all you should know that i prefer my metalcore more on the melodic side then on the all out brutal side.Knowing that lets start the review this band is much more better then i thought it would be. This band is good for both melodic and people that like straight up brutal metalcore. Well lets start withe the members then the band as a whole. The vocal department is run by Tim Lambesis and he does a pretty good job of it. What i love about his vocals is the fact that he enunciats so good. So i basically dont have to go online to look for the lyrics because i can hear every word almost clearly. While on the subject of the lyrics there christian based basically, but they're pretty good. The guitars are the highlight of the show. They are awesome at whatever they're doing riffing or guitar solo's. The drums add one thing i love to this band speed so they are esential if the drums were not as fast they wouldn't be able to pull of the speed they have. But there are some things i have problems with them though. For one there songs get a bit repetetive sometimes especially with the guitars.Another thing I have never found myself haveing any of these songs stuck in my head which sucks because thats what makes music for me. But aside all those things. AILD does a pretty good job especailly in a genre like metalcore. So is it worth to buy the CD, id say yeah but make sure to buy other and better albums before as this is good but there's much better out there.
Track 1- 94 hours 4/5
This song has great melodic guitar. It starts off pretty fast which is nice but then it slows down to a more medium pace and then speeds up again and then kick in the double bass for the drums and slows down to a medium pace again it also feels a bit short as the song is reall more like 2:40 because the last 20 seconds or so are silence which pisses me off.
Track 2- Falling Upon Deaf Ears 4/5
This song starts off fast then is medium paced for most of the time but speeds up in the middle which is my favorite part and then comes a beatiful guitar solo and back to medium speed again this song is also pretty short.
Track 3- Forever 5/5
Only if AILD had more songs like that easily one of the highlights of this album. The guitars do an amazing job for some reason the vocals dont sound as ferocious but whatever still good. The Chorus is just amazing and the song is pretty medium paced for the most part. The lyrics are also great.
Track 4- Collision 4/5
This song starts off with great guitar and now the album starts to get a bit repetetive. The lyrics are great for this song as well. It starts off a little fast paced for the most part and then go's to medium and back to fast and back to medium and keeps doing this. I guess this song has a chorus and the chorus is pretty good.
Track 5- Distance is Darkness 3/5
This song is a nice fresh breath from the same old guitar over and over again. Its too slow paced for my taste however but i do love the chorus in the middle because it starts off softsinging it then goes to a ferocious scream which takes you offguard and makes the screams sound even more brutal than
Track 6- Behind Me Lies Another Fallen Soldier 5/5
This one is a rare gem. I have no idea why i love this song i just do thats all i can say about it.
Track 7- Undefinded 4/5
Great great song a little repetitive like the other tracks but i love it none the less. This song has very good lyrics that i catch myself singing to often especially in the beggining. The drums pound you upside the head in this song and the guitar is awesomely melodic. One of the best tracks on this album very fast paced as well. Its short but i think if it would've been longer it wouldve became boring.
Track 8- A Thousand Steps 1/5
It starts off boring and then thunders in and starts repeating the same old beat over and over again in other words this song sucks. Its just a whole bunch of noise basically... one of the definite worst points of this album good thing this song's short.
Track 9- The Beginning 5/5
This song rules. Beatiful guitar throughout the whole song and it actually changes! AILD needs more songs like this as well as forever. Its medium paced for the most part and has a nice chorus as well very good song.
Track 10- Song 10 1/5
This song was so slow and boring for so long that i just skipped it.
Track 11- The Pain Of Seperation 1/5
This song is random and changes paces so many times i wont even mention the paces. Its sort of boring for the most part and is alot like A thousand steps.
Track 12- Elegy 3/5
Another stellar track from AILD. Great song to finish off the CD. It has a nice medium paced throughout most of the song and also Once again it is very repetitive as it sounds like almost all the good songs on this CD. This song is very long also and gets a bit boring.
