Review Summary: We'll never forget you David...

When I saw this dvd in the store I was suprised by the massive setlist. Being a huge Floyd fan and a new Gilmour solo career fan I decided to pick it up. When I openend the box I find it similar to the Pulse DVD. A well made package with a good artwork and some photos in a booklet. I First Decided to listen to the main concert and I was blown away. Then I put the second disc and I was even more amazed. This is the ultimate DVD.

Disc 1

Set 1:
The First Disc is a full rendition of his last solo record called ''On An Island'' plus some classic Pink Floyd songs. I got addicted to the first part of the dvd. I've never listen to his solo album yet but I will get it as soon as possible. The live performance of it is pure beauty. David Crosby And Graham Nash are the featured guests on this part of the show. The singing between the three man is well done. It's when you see david play those songs live that you see how deep he's into his music. The solo during ''The Blue'' is one of those magic moments that will make you smile.

Set 2:
The Floyd section starts with ''Shine on you Crazy Diamond'', the Usual Floyd opener. Nash and Crosby also did a great job backing David on The Vocals. David shows that his soloing skills will never fail. ''Fat Old Sun'' is one of the song ressurected by David. One of the best on this show in my opinion. I don't see how this 61 years old men can still sing this way. His voice has no weekness. ''Coming Back To Life'' and ''High Hopes'', the two Division Bell songs, are pretty well done but the ultimate moment on this dvd is Echoes. Yes! A full version of Echoes. Perfectly done by Gilmour and Wright. As Usual the show ends with ''Wish You Were Here'' and ''Confortably Numb'' but this time Dave add ''Arnold Layne''. Another ressurected song. It's nice to see David Bowie perform this song. I was a bit dissapointed by his performance on ''Confortably Numb'' but on Arnold Layne he did a great job.

Audio and Visual Quality: The sound is crystal clear. Even better than pulse. The only week point his the bass drum sound that you don't hear at some point. The audio feature both regular 2.0 stereo sound and Dolby 5.1 sound. The visual is one of the best if not the best I've ever seen. The lightning is almost as big as a Pink Floyd show. Time and Echoes featured some crazy lighning effect. Everything comes out really well. The laser, the smoke, the light, etc. Everything looks perfect.

Disc 2:

The second disc features 5 bonus songs from the main concert. It's start off with another ressurected song from Obscured By Clouds, ''Wot's... Uh The Deal''. ''Dominoes'' follows then ''Wearing The Insde Out'' is well done by Mr. Wright. ''Arnold Layne'' and ''Confortably Numb'' are sing by Richard Wright this time.

Some other tracks are featured. The main attraction is ''Astronomy Domine'' played at the abbey road studio. I love the David version. The solo is crazy and Dave seems to rush a bit on it. ''Dark Globe'' is a song originaly played by Syd Barret. Dave gives him a special tribute. You also got to see ''This Heaven'' from his solo records and the Island Jam 2007.

The other live section features some songs played at the premiere of ''On an Island'. Another cool bonus feature. High Hopes is also played.

The Video section features the two video singles from ''On An Island''(''On an Island'' and ''Smile'')

The 'Breaking Bread, Drinking Wine' documentary is interesting. You can choose between a lot of subtitles. And you also got the access to some extended scenes. The 45 minutes documentary is about David tour for ''On an Island''. You see how they prepare the shows, travel ,etc. You even got the chance to see David meeting Roger. A priceless moment.

The Making Of ''On an Island'' is also a cool bonus. You see how this album have been constructed. It's interesting to see how Dave's wife Polly got involved in the writing.

The ''West Coast Documentary'' is just a 5 minutes but it completes this dvd pretty well.

You also have a photo gallery.

*Easter eggs
-Acoustic Version of Echoes (Play Dark Globe and it comes after it)
-Techno Version of On an Island (wait 20 sec in the main menu and click on the fireworks)
-David playing banjo (Same as the previous one but in the bonus song from the Albert Hall concert menu)

-More than 5 hours!!!
-Tons of interesting bonus stuff
-A lot of rare songs are played
-The Quality is perfect (even in the bonus section)

This DVD is quite godly, although the first set tended to drag a little. The performances are brilliant however. The solo in Time is just...wow. I'll never play as well as this man.
Word of warning, don't watch Take a Breath with the lights off - I nearly had a seizure.

This DVD slays Pulse, and probably the best "Pink Floyd" DVD out there now. The sound was incredible, you could just feel the musicianship.

The Bowie cameo got me by surprise, it was excellent. Good Choice for "the doctor".

Again Gilmour is on fire. Maybe marginal weaker than Gdansk in the sense that there are so many unic good versions of PF-songs on Gdansk and here there are little less numbers of so good versions.

4.5 rating is still easy to give. That alone for the godly version of Shine on You Crazy Diamon which is the best version I've ever heard.

How does one measure talent? Do you measure it by technical ability? How do you perceive technical ability? With not a trace of wankery to be found in this live album, Gilmour shows us how it's done in this amazing performance.
