Review Summary: Terras Fames is a fine album for almost any fan of progressive rock. Fans of Tool and A Perfect Circle are sure to be satisfied with what they hear from this band. It is strong in that it provides sophisticated instrumentation, which is complimented by so

On the surface Rishloo come off as just another cheap Tool knock off, but after more attention is paid one can safely dismiss this notion. However, even if they were a cheap knock off, it should be noted that duplicating Tool's sound at a professional level is no easy task, so that alone should warrant a second look for those naysayers. Earshot once tried to duplicate Maynard's sound, but failed miserably.

Terras Fames is their debut album, and it is quite an impressive debut. If their sound can be summed up in any way, perhaps it would be best described as a merger between Tool and A Perfect Circle. They accomplish this in such a way that they don't come off as a direct copy cat. There is no duplicating MJK, but Andrew Mailloux does a fine job of fronting his band. He provides a wide range of vocals that compliment the many sounds that are provided by the band, and there are many sounds.

These days it seems to harder and harder to find an album where every track is enjoyable, so you can imagine my amazement when I stumbled upon this album. Every song is worth a listen. That is not to say that there are not some songs that are stronger than others. The strongest 4 songs just so happen to make up the center of the album. They are Harlequin, Seven Rings Left, The Water is Fine, and Lovely Room. Let me just say that each one of these songs is mesmerizing in its own way.

Terras Fames is a fine album for almost any fan of progressive rock. Fans of Tool and A Perfect Circle are sure to be satisfied with what they hear from this band. It is strong in that it provides sophisticated instrumentation, which is complimented by solid vocals. Anyone who is disappointed by the fact that A Perfect Circle is pretty much over and Tool looks to be on their way out can find solace in the fact that Rishloo have only just begun.

A promising start for a band that got immensely better with age....

Kinda feel like this album is rated as high as it is because of their subsequent albums coupled with the band itself being as obscure as it is. If this was more 'mainstream', I think we would be shitting on it more than we are now.

That said, Eidolon is really decent. Glad I heard that first instead of this.

That's why we have opinions. This is great. I love the raw sound over the overproduced sound in Feathergun.

They sound like their unsure of themselves and are just playing it safe on this one, still a great album. Just Eidolon and Feathergun are soooo much better.
