Coroner’s logbook

Date: March 29, 2004
Place: Finland
Scenario: De Lirium’s Order
Subject: Victim No.52
Cause Of Death: Death-Thrash

Let’s see what went wrong with this poor guy. It looks like this person was severely beaten and stabbed multiple times, but the law people wont be satisfied with that short amount with information. Ok, De Lirium’s Order started somewhere in 1998 in Finland, a place known for other sorts of macabre and violent death-thrash acts, Deathchain being one of them. This type of death/thrash is definitely nothing generic or bland; this case is actually quite special, not ground breaking but definitely unusual. De Lirium’s Order is known for having obscure messages about known serial killers, torture, and grim death. Their twisted forms of musical violence is has been proved to show a great deal of technical skills, but it is the small amount of creepy melodies that makes De Lirium’s Order to standout from other death-thrashers. This will be interesting indeed; it was a long time since I had a case like this. Let’s examine!

Hmm, the pale eyes are wide open; it looks like this person has seen the devil in front of him while another monstrosity was breathing down his neck. No doubt that deep guttural growls has done this, and judging by the sheer terror within his eyes I would say that sadistic blackish snarls has been playing a part of this too. Pathologist’s Perverse Fantasies would be one of candidates that would affect the victim like this. Wait, something has been carved in his forehead, it says:

Your eyes are so beautiful
When they are glazed like that,
They have so many stories to tell,
Let me just dig them out so I can remember you.

What would’ve been worst…? Having your eyes intact and then see what they will do to you, or loose your eyes without knowing what is about to happen? Oh my god, the entire body is covered with deep and shallow cuts and bruising, from the top of the head and all down to the very end of fingers and toes. Judging by the deep cuts I would say that a rhythm guitar did this and a heavy one too. Heavy, technical and solid rhythms have caused massive tissue damage. Just look at the right arm here, Sanctuary Of Incineration (in particular) and Abomination has made incredible damage with their ultra heavy and varied tremolo shredding. And if we look at the torso we will find more cuts but these separates from the deeper cuts. A melodic and technical lead guitar has done this; the damage is not as extent as the rhythms but these are so much neater and précised cuts. Look here, no doubt that The Art Of Butchering or Victim No.52 has done this with their technical and complex guitar work. Twisted and complex, melodic and high-pitched guitar solos has actually made several puncture wounds. The wounds has an odd structure but they have been lethal, puncturing lots of vital organs and arteries, guitar solos like these are not that common but when you find them you are more or less amazed by the damage they afflict.

This is strange, there is hardly any visible damage done by the bass. While the guitars have literally made sushi of this body the bass has hardly done anything that really stands out. There are though some nasty, very nasty bruises here and there and that must’ve been a work of a heavy bass. If we look inside this poor fellow we can actually see that some of the organs have gotten some damage, enough for them to become malfunctioning, like the liver and the kidneys. The bass seems to have been put aside to let the guitars make the main job, it seems that the bass has followed the rhythm guitars.

D***, it’s difficult to have this body on the examine table, it keeps sliding down the draining all the time. But it’s understandable because no bone is whole so the body is like a sack of potatoes. The cutting damage was horrible enough but the drumming has totally demolished all bones, more or less. X-ray’s shows in this case the left arm; it has been broken more that seven times. The spinal cord has been broken in three different places and large amounts of bone fragments have been lodge in sensitive nerve threads. The pelvis is broken, and most of the ribs are shattered, the neck appears to be snapped as well. Blast beats, bursts of double bass kicking seems to have done most of the work. Intense mid-paced patterns, heavy beats and other types of slow but heavy drum beats has been a part of this. Masterpiece Of A Morbid Mind and lets say Dr. Lirium Orders: Suffering would be the prime ones that has done some of the worst damage. Oh my, look what I found on the back, another sick message. It says:

Masterpiece of a morbid mind
Is the final rite of insanity

I guess I’m afraid to say that I’m lucky that it is not me that is laying there on a cold steel bed with a bright light over me. I can’t describe the overall damage in words; this is now my worst autopsy, for now. I’m still fascinated by the work from whom ever that did this. All the cuts made by the guitars are twisted, no cut looks similar to another, and all have different depths, shapes and length. But strangely, I still think that not many of them stand out. Compare The Sunrise and Dr. Lirium Orders: Suffering still appears to seem familiar to each other, both in riff structure and drum performance. But there are some areas that still has a unique look, Through The Eyes Of A Murder and Abomination with their tight, fast shredding and hefty drumming for example. But the true standout damage here has to be Masterpeice Of A Morbid Mind with its fast pace, dynamics and melodies. People who are fascinated of what damage death/thrash can do should definitely check out De Lirium’s Order. The string work is quite unique for a death/thrash band, twisted and complex melodies are molded with intense shredding and technical riff work. The vocals are powerful but due to the small lack of shrieking/snarls the vocals might get a bit repetitive. Other than that, this is brutal, intense, musically variable and even somewhat unique. This is truly a Masterpiece Of A Morbid Mind.

De Lirium's Order dishes up near melo-death/thrash perfection with "Victim No. 52", an album any psy...

All of those albums from the drop-down box were Dark Tranquillity albums...I had to fiddle around with a bunch of links to get this to submit.

Anywho, I liked this; it was amusing. Good job :thumb:

It took me a week to write this and three-four days to fine-tune it so please don’t be too harsh. For once I came up with a concept review so I hope you enjoy reading it. I enjoy it though

The concept led to a lot of grammatical errors, but this was still a very entertaining read.

This is pretty solid, but I don't care for the very thrashy stuff.
