Release Date: 2002 | Tracklist

Review Summary: Even if this album sounds nearly exactly the same asthe band's first album Dawn Of The Stillborn it still delivers a lethal dose of old-school aggressive thrash-metal.

Descendants of Kreator is one way I like to call Flash Made Sin since they remind me so much about early Kreator. Flesh Made Sin is a new band from the Netherlands and they have chosen the traditional way to deliver old-school thrash metal. And they do as they are considered to be doing, their type of thrash is definitely old-school and you can hear that they are quite influenced by Kreator. Their type of thrash is very straight forward, very aggressive and violent. Even if thrash is not as popular these days Flesh Made Sin bears the thrash metal flag with pride.

Dawn Of The Stillborn is the name of their full-length album but we will not focus on that album in this review. This review will give you a closer look at one of their mini CD’s and that mini album is called Masterwork In Blood which was released in 2002, pretty catchy album name huh? I don’t know if EP and Mini CD is the same thing but this little album has a total of five tracks plus a short intro track, that’s six total. So what does this mini album have to offer? Pure aggressive and deadly old-school thrash metal! The crew in this band does not have any breaks in their music since all the tracks are very fast, heavy, a bit technical and extreme. And if you read the track titles you can easily figure out that the band does not have any friendly lyrics. These lyrics are pretty much all about killing people, violence, anger and other sorts of evil lyrics.

The vocals in this album are a mix between sharp thrash vocals and dark death grunting. Twan Van Geel delivers a very good vocal performance that really adds a lot to the extreme and evil tracks. Twan is also a guitarist, he and Bjorn Van Hamond are the two guitarists and they sure deliver a solid guitar performance. The riffs in this album are actually pretty technical, at least they sound technical since the riffs are played in a very high tempo. Even if the riffs sound a bit generic the riff work is still quite catchy, devastating and fast. And thanks to the crunchy guitar sound the riffs receives a bit more texture, and this creates a brick thick wall of sound. The band might not be revolutionary in their instrumental abilities but the solos are high quality. We have some fast, crazy and high-pitched solos; the bad thing is that the solos are too short. Mark Van Stiphaut is the bass player and he also does a good job. The bad thing is that his bass fades away a bit because of the guitars, but he follows the rhythms with good accuracy. Marco Stubbe is the drummer here and he really beats the **** out of the drums. Here you have some really fast drumming, there are lots of intense ‘’Slayer’’ drumming, some blast-beats here and there and some slower drum parts as well.

That should do it, it was a long time since I listen to Flesh Made Sin and especially this album. First I thought it felt incredibly repetitive but now my mind has been changed. The things that I liked were the guitar work and especially the guitar sound. The guitars had a crunchy sound that really created a good wall of sound which was really good. Other things that I liked were the high level of intensity that I think is highly necessary for thrash metal. Honestly, I like this album very much but in the end it feels a little bit repetitive since the tracks follow a similar song structure. Any thrash metal fan should’ve heard at least one or two tracks from this band because the chance of finding a band like this isn’t high. I you like bands like Hypnosia, Kreator, Criminal or perhaps death-thrash bands you will definitely love this band.

Positives
+ Heavy and crushing material
+ The guitars has a very thick and steady sound
+ Quite catchy and headbang-able tracks
+ Great old-school thrash metal with a touch of modern techniques

Negatives
- Can get a little bit repetitive
- Too few songs

Yeah definitely some typos here, alums instead of albums in the second paragraph second sentence and incredible instead of incredibly in the second sentence of the last paragraph. Review summed it up nicely though, no need to complain about the short length friend, it's only a six track album :thumb:
