REVIEW
The Good-
This album is brilliant, from star to finish. Dark, menacing, sad, these are just some of the many moods that overtake this record. Jon Crosby is excellent at singing, he can go from quiet and moody, to harsh and angsty all in one song, providing once again a mood for the song. While all instrumentation, except for the drums, are sometimes simple, this is because Jon handles all instrumentation! But simplicity doesn’t overshadow the emotion and beauty of this record. Oh, no! Take, for instance, Touched. Starting off with a faced-paced, drowning acoustic, it seems to be a mellow song. But just listen a little longer, and you will find amazing vocals, intriguing lyrics, hard-hitting distortion, and pounding drums. Jon also uses samples and keyboards, witch add variety, depth and atmosphere to almost all the songs.

The Bad-
Some songs tend to stop at the most awkward times. Like Here, it just ends after the most exiting moments of the song! Its real disappointing to know that there could’ve been so much more, but there isn’t (on some songs). If you like technicality, you won’t find much here. While this doesn’t bring the album down for me at all, it might affect other listeners. And while almost every song seems to have its own little personality, some bits and pieces sound the same, like the use of chants throughout the album. This might annoy some of you, if you like your albums with absolutely no repetitiveness. Take some parts of Pretty When You Cry and Dirty Hole, some of the chants (as aforementioned) sound like the exact same thing.
-Some repetiveness
-Instrumentation may be just a little too simple for people
-Awkward stop times at some songs
-Overall length of songs
OVERALL-
I think Crosby did an exellent job on this record. The emotion is unlimited, the lyrics are amazing, just the ‘feel’ of the album, it’s awesome. But, at the same time, I felt he could’ve done more on some songs, lengths, and maybe other band members could’ve helped to. But overall, this is an exellent record, any fan of VAST or just music should get this right away, it is well worth the money.

Can someone tell me if I can edit my review? The spacing is all f'cked from the original, I'll have it fixed...
| | | Go to "my profile" and then on the far right it says "Edit my reviews", looks like you figured it out already. This album cover reminds me of the Stadium Arcadium booklet. This Message Edited On 04.12.07

| | | A little short, but not a bad second review at all. Just a little tip, though. Don't start your reviews with "REVIEW", it doesn't really take anything away from the review itself, but it's kind of pointless. Not a big deal, or anythin, just sayin.

Thanks guys! I tried to work on the spacing, but...? Anyways yes, it is a great album, I first heard this when I was about 7 or 8 from my mom, I absolutley loved Touched (and I still do now)

Yeah, Touched was the first I had heard from them but tracks such as here, pretty when you cry, Im dying, temptation, three doors and my personal fave flames are just as good.
The follow up album, music for people is also a great album.

Music For People is not very good. Neither is April. Nude is.
