Review Summary: ROCK ON! ROCK ON!

Def Leppard sucks, but we know that. What we don't know is that they're capable of making a decent record. Well, they did it. They made a decent album. And it's not even that great.

The album cover shows the guys from DL standing in front of some stupid sign that says Yeah on it or some crap like that. Anyway, it's called Yeah!, Def Leppard's cover album. They decided to cover stuff that no one's heard before, so they wouldn't be bashed for doing crappy covers. No Led Zeppelin. No Queen. No AC/DC. None of the stuff that we listen to that influenced these guys. Not at all. We get Blondie, David Essex, and T. Rex. That's right, fucking T. Rex. Oh well.

Speaking of which, T. Rex is the first cover on here. It's called 20th Century Boy, about a kid from the 20th century I guess. It's just casual T. Rex 70's glsm rock done 21st century Def Leppard style. David Essex's Rock On is a pretty good track though, with some hard rock edge added to it, especially in the chorus. This ain't Hysteria, dammit! This is rock!

Blondie's Hangin' On The Telephone is next, and it's ok at first, but then we realize how stupid it sounds. Def Leppard covering Blondie? Yes. There's some hard rock in it, but overall it's pretty...weak. Stick with the Blondie original.

Def Leppard is actually pretty good on this album. Fans hate it, but huge nationalist DL fans hate anything that involves the band doing covers. They would much rather listen to classics such as X and Adrenalize. Get it? That was sarcasm. Those albums suck, moreso than others. Anyway, next it's Waterloo Sunset by The Kinks, a standard England rock classic. The DL boys grew up with this stuff, while I grew up listening to...other stuff I guess. When I was a lad, The Kinks and T Rex were not to be found in my collection. You might have found a Blondie greatest hits album, but nothing else off of this cover album.

Hell Raiser is about raising hell, and yes, it's ok, but it's not Rock On ore Waterloo Sunset. Boring at first, but then it gets more exciting. 10538 Overture is pure rock, done the Def Leppard way of course. Street Life sucks, it don't do no rockin'. Drive-In Saturday is a lame cover. You need to go listen to At The Drive-In or eat at a drive-in, because this drive-in sucks it.

There are stinkers, goodies, and half-decent songs, and we have the quarter-decent songs as well. Overall, there's some great stuff, but also some dookie. Pick it up, download, whatever. Just listen to something off of this album. If you do download something, you might want to download The Golden Age Of Rock n' Roll. That's one of the best covers on the whole album! It's, well, I never thought I'd say this about anything done by Def Leppard, but the song is awesome.

It's sad when a Def Leppard cover album is better than some of the new rock bands we have today. Maybe this will inspire some other old and washed up hair metal band to make a cover album. Maybe it'll be Ratt! They could cover the whole album of Aerosmith's Big Ones compilation album. Maybe REO Speedwagon will cover this whole album. Of course, it won't be as good as the Def Leppard version. REO Speedwagon is retarded. Even the name makes me laugh.

Anyway, this album's good. So pick it up. 3/5

YEAH!

NOt a very good review. Didn't go in depth or anything. Your intro was basically paraphrased from the other review.
