Review Summary: This is great for a new band, pulling also some awesome riffs and a few new sounds. They have their own unique style of using Chants in certain songs which I find that awesome. All around As Blood Runs Black is a awesome new band.

As Blood Runs Black is:
Leche~Drums
Ernie~Guitar
Sal~Guitar
Chris~Vocals
Nick~Bass

I'm surprised at how well this band is, for their first Cd it really isn't bad. I mean of course there is a few songs that have their way of not reaching my likes but most do. The drumming by Leche is the sound of something like Slipknots Joey and the Guitarists and Vocals sound goings more toward As I Lay Dying. All around still sounds like a pretty decent band; especially for a new band the only problem is, there isn't enough songs which made me sad, but could leave for more on their next Album (Hopefully).

I think their strong point is mostly the lyrics by Chris and Leche's drumming. I'm not saying that the guitarists and bassist aren't good, but that it['s nothing we haven't heard before, thats all. There are some great solo's through out the Cd, don't get me wrong about that. What impresses me the most is the chant's where all the member's of the band are screaming out at once, which i thought was pretty unique, my reason's for saying there is some great lyrics by Chris.

Intro:
The track intro is pretty good but I think that they could have done without. It does show you what your getting and everything but really didn't do anything for me. Its predictable for a new band that’s all I'm saying here, its like their making an excuse not to have more songs.

In Dying Days:
In Dying Days is the 2nd track on this Album, and i have to say that it isn't bad at all in fact its a great song, lyrical and musical rise. Songs like this make you interested in more of what they got to offer.

(No one is setting a path for us to follow, we will all fall in the end
In dying days
As the time to rise approaches
No one will take responsibility)

This song is saying exactly what you want to say about our country. This is a great song.

My Fears Have Become Phobias:
This is the 3rd track on this Album, and is their hit single. This song really shows What Vocalist Chris has to offer, hitting the notes how ever he feels high , low. He gets his voice deep in this song and its just amazing. The title of the song is kind of catchy to. This is one of the songs that has chants in it, which as i said before is very unique to me, not many bands do this. This always a great lyrical songs, but instead of the drumming of Leche being more superior than the Guitarists Sal and Ernie, the guitarists show some of their talent in this one with a great solo in the middle of the song.

(Wasting all that's left of a day
Watching time just fly away on his own
Dreams are surpassing him by
Why not live life to it's fullest and give it a try)

I think this song could give inspiration to people by telling them to move on and face your fears. Just another great song.

Hester Prynne:
This is track 4, I most say this is not one of my Favorite songs on the Album, but an ok song. I think this song was more for listening to the drummer, the reason i say that is because out of all the songs this song you really couldn't hear the singer or the guitarist, and bassist. I did like because of the drumming. But this song really isn't anything to talk about.

Pouring Reign:
this is track 5 and its an instrumental, now I'm not really an instrumental type of person, but this wasn't bad. This song shows the calm side of As Blood Runs Black, because this is the calmest song on this Album. I really do recommend you to listen to this song.

A Brighter Side Of Suffering:
This is track 6 on the Album, this is another song that isn't one of my favorite on this Album. The best part in the song is at the end with the drum solo, but singing by Chris is pretty sweet, with the way he can change the tone of his voice so good and quickly makes you think there’s more than one singer, but no its just Chris. Some great lyrics also in this song to.

(There's more to this
Finding a solution
Hope for tomorrow, for a better today
A new revolution
We stand and fight and face the pain)

I consider this song to inspire people to, to make, you push on, and hope for a better day.

A Beautiful Mistake:
This is track 7and I love this song. Not when I first heard it, so it took a few rounds to get used to it. There's alot more of the bassist showing his potential in his song. There is also a great solo in this song as well. I have to say the lyrics ain't all that good, but the guitarists and bassist make up for that.

(Pushed to the edge of this world, this is why I cant love
The moment I hope that you'll come rescue me
I will fall in love with you
Take me away with you
Take me away with you
Suicide in my mind cant change
I cant live without you)

This song is obviously about a girl, and him wanted her to make everything all better again, more like his crying.

Strife(Chug Chug):
This is track 8 on the Album and I have to say that this is a amazing song, and my favorite on the Album. This Song shows alot of work that has been put into this, and a very determined band. This best thing about this song isn't the lyrics, but the drum and guitar solo as the near end of the song, which if I may say is Amazing.

(Another band, a fallen dream another outcast
Another 1 to a band, fallen dream, a fucking outcast
Now that you're gone we carry out this torch
The one you threw away with no remorse
No fuel to light the fire, but we're still going strong)

This is a great line in the, alot of emotion and passion was put in to this song. This is another the song that has the unique style I've said from the beginning the chants. "going strong, going strong" is right after the line above.

Beneath The Surface:
This is track 9 on the Album and a good song. There is alot more chants in this song than any other song on the Album "how can one
Claim to be perfect despite the things he has done, how can one
Be so blind to see, you're no fucking different than me" this is an awesome line in the song, and is also the chant. This is a great lyrical song also.

(Have you heard of rumors?
Some clash with lies
One degrades another out of despite
Out of despite
I'm human
I'm not perfect just like you)

This is pretty saying don't believe what you heard, especially when you already believe something else, don't change that just because someone else says different.

Legends Never Die:
This is the 10th and last track on this Album and is another favorite of mine, With great lyrical, and being able to hear the guitarist and bassist so clearly makes this song a must to listen to. This song is great because of what its about "Preserve one's self, in safety for growth, Preserve one's self" This is a great song. and one of the best on the Album.

(Preserve one's self in safety for growth
Preserve one's self in safety for growth
Preserve one's self in safety for growth
Preserve one's self in safety for growth
Why kill a dream?
Why kill a dream?
Feed off the weakness of your kind
Feed off the weakness for your prime)

This is a great song, its saying why let your dreams go when nothing is impossible, which is true even though it doesn't seem like it.

Altogether this is a very inspirational band more than anything. For this to be a new band I think they did great. I just wish that they have given more than just 10 songs on this Cd. But I still recommend this band and hopefully in the upcoming year we'll get more from them

I'm pretty sure there's no WAY this album has so many votes, such a high rating, and such a fanboyish review. This barely passes for mediocre (the album).

And on the review...This is not a review. This is you saying the band will be big because you like them, even though you didn't expect to.

From reading this, I have zero idea as to what this album actually sounds like. If I hadn't already heard it, that is. The only thing you SORT OF described was the drums, and that's much too little.

You have to do more than blindly praise a band, especially one that most people probably haven't heard.

this isn't a review of the album, it's more of a ass kiss to me.

i personally know the band and they'd laugh their ass off if they read this.

You have to actually mention something other than how much you like them.

Yikes, tensions seem so high. Yes it wasn't the best first review in the world we've already established that. Next time I would recommend focusing the majority of the review on the album itself. Try this format for starters...

1. Intro - Possibly state how you were introduced to the band, maybe some general information on the band, and the type of music they play.

2. Body - This is the main portion of the review. Here is where you talk about the songs on the album. Disucss aspects such as what you enjoy, what you don't (but please don't do this all in first person). Also talk about the album overall, if it is repetitive, how it flows, etc. This will/should probably be at least two paragraphs (at least for now).

3. Conclusion - Wrap it all up. Make sure you recap on some main points and touch on final thoughts, this is a great place to say things like I predict the band will have a successful future, etc.

Hope that helped a bit but the main thing you should do is just practice some more. This Message Edited On 12.27.06

Much better, content wise. I'd still maybe try to avoid Track By Track reviews in the future. Try to capture the overall sound.

Other than spelling and grammar, it's a decent enough review. I'll change my vote for now, just try to work on the spelling/grammar issues.

while this album is fairly generic, it still boosts that death metal influenced metalcore some people call "deathcore." i love hester prynn's riffing and some of the other songs are crushing as well.

i really like this album and band and it seems like im the minority on this site for doing so.

I will be the first to admit, they do have some very generic riffs and parts, but i feel that they do have talent.

The drumming by Leche is the sound of something like Slipknots Joey...

Leche is 10x as better than Joey. I've never seen Joey jump to that speed on bass on rolls as quick as Leche can.

Leche is a fuggin beast.

Sucks he got kicked out.

ummmm, nah, Joey is better. Double Bass skill is, well, very common, and uninteresting tbqh. Leche was the best member of this band but that isnt saying a whole lot.
