“Separating themselves from all other genres, Frozen Eternity pulls off an original side to their music. Cutting edge/ melodic guitar riffs, screaming fast solos, thundering drum/ blast beats, synth structures to perfection, sharp, full, and clear lyrics/vox.” -CD Baby

Hailing from Colorado Frozen Eternity is an underground Metal act that seemed to be loved by everyone who knows them, and it is easy to see why. Frozen Eternity have a powerful sound that outmatches many of the metal bands of Today. Their brutal riffs, insane solos and unique vocals make for quite the listening experience.

Frozen Eternity is a band consisting of merely two members by the names of Josh Dummer and Cody Davis. The Duet started in 2005 originally consisting of 3 members but since has been decreased to the two members. Not even in a year’s time the band released their debut album by the name of Forgotten Past.

The album kicks off with one of my personal favorites “Maelstrom”. They have an interesting way of kicking off their songs in this particular track we have some tympanis. Throughout the entire album excellent musicianship is demonstrated. The soloing from Frozen Eternity is simply phenomenal. The solos are very fast and technical. The fact is Frozen Eternity are an extremely technical band and never fail to impress.

The vocals on this album are pretty unique for death metal. 95% of the vocals on this album are a unique scream that gives almost a liquid feel. “Self Annihilation” is a track that greatly demonstrates the liquid feel you get from Josh’s vocals. Although they are unique the vocals are not the best in metal but they certainly are more tolerable and different than a lot of things out there. Aside from the Screams there are some clean vocals here and there. The clean vocals are a definite standout since they are very clear and beautiful.

One thing I did not expect from this album was good production quality. Seeing as the band members were only 20 years of age and had not hit it big yet by any means I did not expect clear music. Although Some company somewhere must have picked up this band and given them a studio because the production quality of this album is quite impressive. A song that demonstrates the good quality is another gem the band title track “Frozen Eternity”.

For a couple of 20 year olds the musical talent is unbelievable. The Guitar is fast paced and provides innovative riffs, and the drumming is fast paced and in your face. Only complaint I have about the instruments is that I cannot really hear the bass. Although there is a possibility that there was no bass but I am under the impression the 2 members recorded all the instruments themselves. All the songs on this album have a great riff such as “Eclipse of Hope” and can put a smile on any metal heads face.

All in all this is a fantastic record. The musicians demonstrate excellent musicianship and songs are catchy and still pack a big punch. And although Frozen Eternity is quite underground that does not mean they should be overlooked at all. Forgotten Past proves to be quite the album and is a must have for any fan of the metal genre.

Pros.
+Amazing Musicianship
+Unique Vocals
+Insane Solos
+Good length
+No real filler
+Good blend of brutal and melodic music
+Nice production quality

Cons.
-Where is the Bass?
-Too Underground
-Although Unique, vocals are quite a grower

Alright review. You randomly capitalized some words like "today" in the second paragraph, but other than that not bad. I don't really know how something can be too underground though.

Yes, but that doesn't really have anything to do with the music. It has to do with the bands popularity.

Never heard of them. Maybe I'll check 'em out. Great review. It sounds good, but I don't know about the fact that they have no bass. I guess they could still be ok.

"Self Annihilation" is a good song but the part that comes in at 0:47 sounds like a part in a Children of Bodom song. A song I can't put my finger on.
