Review Summary: Through the eyes of the dead, not very well known death metal band, with amazing guitars drums and vocals they surely will be known soon…

TTEOD (through the eyes of the dead) released their EP in early 2004. The title was The Scars of ages and it was truly amazing. My friend that I had been jamming with I asked him to come to SOTU 2006 with me and he asked who was on it so I showed him and he was just like have you actually heard these guys and I said no. so he immediately got on the computer and showed me all the songs he could and I was amazed to say the least.

The first track is beneath dying skies you might know it from the 2005 release of Bloodlust but it came first from their EP. This song is a perfect opener just comes right out with explosive vocals and everything right behind him. The only thing I have to say bad about this band is his voice is a little tough to understand. But right after the intro an amazing section of riffs that is just talent comes out in your face. This song never stops laying out amazing riffs on you; this truly is a perfect metal track.

Maybe you have heard different movie clips inserted into songs but this one truly stood out to me. The song is called the autumn tint of gold. To me it could be about exactly what the intro says but a part of me thinks that it actually could be talking about Satan’s fall from heaven. This song has amazing blast beats on the drums and sweet guitar riffs throughout. This song is also when we get the true death metal screams in the middle of the song that leads into a clip from George Clooney: “faithless preacher? Or are you a mean mother ***ing servant of god?” then right to a little fill and to some more death metal screams. This song never ceases to amaze the listener all around a good song.

Forever ends today will definitely stand out to the Attentive listener. It is the first solo that we find on the album and also is well I guess the most melodic yet hardcore at the same time. This song we find a lot of lyrics being presented right with the speed and beat of the music and at this rate of knowing through the eyes of the dead you should know that that can be fast and technical which it is. This is a super awesome song.

The next track is called Between the Gardens that Bathe in Blood. This has a very talented intro but I jut don’t like the way the guitars sound so it kind of ruined the actual song for me but yet still it is a good song. The whole song is extremely talented and sort of melodic at a part which is kind of nice in a way. Sorry that I don’t really have much to say about this song but it is good and I would recommend it.

The last track on the album and my personal favorite is To Take Comfort (in yesterday’s scars). This song starts out with yet another movie quote. “I want your blood, I want your soul, and I want them both right now!” don’t know exactly where it is from but it is sweet. Starts out with explosive vocals and then sweet riffs behind fast high vocals, goes into some death metal screaming and there is a pretty good blend of the different types of vocals. Lots and lots of blast beats and 32nds on the double bass, Sweet breakdown in the middle and an amazing solo and the rest of the song is a lot of "deathmetalness". It is an amazing song super fantastic ender to an amazing album. Through the eyes of the dead really grabbed my as a fan with this alum I loved them on SOTU even though they played a lot of new stuff.

I would really appreciate some comments and or constructive criticism on this review let me know what you think on the band album and my review. Tanks for reading –drew-

Im not too familiar with this cd, but I did listen to their older album 'Bloodlust'. Generic death/ metalcore and these guys will not last in the metal world, if this cd is not better than that pice of crap. A well written review I must say though. Sorry to be a negative nancy.

To Bfhurrican: they were sucky? And let me guess, Children of Bodom was good.

I saw TTEOTD and I was blown away, they're 666% better than Bodom will ever be, and Anthony can actually scream, as apposed to sounding like a throat cancer victim like Alexi.

First solo (more of a lead) in Forever Ends Today is nearly identical to part of Dead Eternity by In Flames, still, that song owns.

Probably my favorite CD ever.

The lyrics be mad good.

Her tears were cold as winter
Know true meaning, when you slaughter angels
A kiss that burns forever
The letter never ended
A voice now broken with lies
In a soul I now despise

FOREVER! ends

I love that part of FET... right when it gets to the breakdown and it's just Anthony screaming forever. This Message Edited On 12.05.06

Well the COB concert was one of my favorites. The singer of TTEOTD was way off key and they messed up quite a few times. Their guitarist was good but not nearly as impressive as Alexi. However that doesn't mean I dont think they were good but they played like they've never played together before. Perhaps I just happened to be at the one bad show they had

Good review there, man. The band is good. They've got some solid guitar work and an impressive drummer. Too bad the vocals are so poor. He really holds them back, makes everything seem so repetitive.

This entire EP is a masterpiece. Some of the best vocals on any metal recording.

Anthony is one of the sickest vocalists I've heard in this genre. He rules. I need to get the rest of this as I've only heard To Take Comfort.
