Polish grunge outfit MadStone released a music video for their song "Monster". Clocking at a little over 7 minutes, it's the final track off their debut album Rust that dropped last September. Both the song and the video, starring Wika Matysiewicz and realized by One.seven studio, deal with substance abuse, hailed as the titular monster. The band is currently touring in support of the release.

Sydney-based Deathcore band Abrogation has posted a new song at its official YouTube location, titled “Hymn of the Dethroned Sun” from their upcoming album “Codex of the Collapsed”.
London Melodic Hardcore/Emo band Death of Youth have released the music video for the title track of their upcoming debut album Nothing Is The Same Anymore.
The track is a bittersweet song exploring the complexities of healing from trauma and grief and the nonlinearity of that process. The accompanying music video features animation resembling PS1 Horror Games of yesteryear such as Silent Hill.

French-Canadian power/doom metal outfit Exxûl, is streaming its first full-length at the official Bandcamp location of compatriot imprint Productions TSO.
Titled Sealed Into None, the long player was released on January 15.

UK band Static Dress have signed to Sumerian Records and dropped a new single to coincide, 'human props'.
Commenting on the signing, Sumerian Records president Shawn Keith says: "As Sumerian Records celebrates 20 years, we will usher in a new era of authentic and unconventional talent. Static Dress represents the quality of artistry we want to support."
No news on an album has been announced at this time but rumours point to a 2026 release now they are onboard with Sumerian.
Portuguese psychedelic pop/jazz artist Bruno Pernadas is releasing his 5th album in February of this year, titled 'Unlikely, Maybe'. This will be his first album since 2021's Private Reasons.

Matthew Kwasniewski-Kelvin, founding black midi member, has passed away. Rough Trade Records shared the sad news through an Instagram post, saying: "It is with deep sadness that we as a family regret to inform you that Matthew Kwasniewski-Kelvin has died after a long battle with his mental health." He was 26 years old.
In early 2021, Matt went on hiatus from the band for mental health reasons. Schlagenheim remains the only studio record that he was part of, essentially as a guitar player, but he also did vocals duties on "Years Ago".

Massachussetts-based melodic hardcore stalwarts, A Wilhelm Scream, have announced the release of their sixth full-length album, entitled Cheap Heat, that will be released on February 27th via Creator-Destructor Records. The album is the band's first since 2022's Use Your Delusion.
The third track of the album, "Midnight Ghost", can be heard below.
Polish folk/black metal group Thy Worshiper has unveiled the first single off the upcoming album Demony Wschodu, set to release on Feb. 13. Titled "Od Edenu na wschód", the song takes a more gothic route than the band's earlier works. It also marks their first release after recent lineup changes: the return of a former drummer Bartosz Maruszak, previously featured on Czarna Dzika Czerwień and Klechdy, and the clean vocal duties being taken over by Eli from Narbo Dacal. To promote the single's mother record, the band is also going to embark on a short tour by the end of February.

Kawaii metal trio Babymetal have announced the first of their 15th anniversary celebrations with a re-recording of one of their first ever singles. "Head Bangya!! (15th Night version)" features new instrumentation and vocals in a refresh of one of their earlier J-Pop/metal fusion experiments. The session band recruited for this rendition of the track is as follows:

Sputnikmusic's own dark ambient solo artist Kannatama has moved away from soundscapes and towards traditional melodic black/death metal influences. The project is being expanded and future releases may incorporate a mix of the two styles, or simply keep them separated in specific releases.

Chrocktikal, a four-member Korean band formed under Dreamcatcher Company, announced their debut with a LP to be released on January 15th.
The band is led by Dreamcatcher member Lee Siyeon, who's also the vocalist and producer. The other members include bassist Lee Junyoung (former IZ member), drummer Je Gwanwoo and guitarist and producer Lee Wonseok.
Their debut LP "We break, you awake" includes 11 tracks, with a 12th bonus track being vinyl-exclusive.

Norwegian vocalist Silje Wergeland is no longer a member of the atmospheric heavy music pioneers The Gathering.
Her statement, as it appeared in a social media post, is as follows:
It's a new dawn and a new year. After 16 years of creating and playing great music with THE GATHERING, it's time to move on to new ventures.
I have had so many awesome experiences and made great memories with this band that will stay with me for the rest of my life.

British musician, guitarist and keyboardist for The Cure, Perry Bamonte has passed away at the age of 65. According to the band, he passed after what was simply described as a "short illness", though details of the said illness are unknown.
Bamonte joined the band in 1990 before being dismissed from the band in 2005, and then rejoining in 2022, being involved in the group's most recent album, Songs of a Lost World, in 2024.
In the aftermath of a warehouse fire at the outskirts of Copenhagen that destroyed its equipment for recording sessions and live events, Danish experimental metal outfit VOLA has found itself in an uphill battle to replace and rebuild what was lost.

British singer/songwriter Chris Rea has passed away at the age of 74.
According to a statement issued by his family, he "died peacefully at the hospital, surrounded by his relatives".
Born and raised from an Italian father and an Irish mother in Middlesbrough, Rea swiftly moved up the echelons of the music industry to a solo career that sold over 30 million albums.
His most know albums are The Road To Hell featuring the namesake hit single, and the followup full-length Auberge.
A new LA emo group Car Underwater has emerged with their first track, titled "Calling This Healing".
Among people involved are Nolan Nunes (Ghostemane) on bass, Zach Capittifenton (Cryogeyser, ex-Momma) on drums, quannic and Sonny Foster (Versera) on guitars and vocals, Darcy Baylis on keyboards and vocals and Max Epstein (Photographic Memory, ex-Militarie Gun) on lead vocals, with Casey Lagos (ex-Stick to Your Guns) credited as a co-writer and co-producer. Several of them have previously collaborated on their respective projects, as well as on If Not Winter - the debut album by the American shoegaze musician Wisp.
Named most likely after the song by Armor for Sleep, the band is drawing from the 2000's emo/post-hardcore sound.
Norwegian lofi/black metal/post punk outfit Fanatisme, is streaming its first album at the official Bandcamp location of compatriot imprint FysiskFormat.
Titled Tro, Håp Og Kjærlighet, the long player is an official production since December 12.
