Imogen Heap's 20th anniversary 9 replies

Imogen Heap has announced a 20th anniversary remaster of her seminal album Speak for Yourself, out October 17.

Released in 2005, the album’s standout track, "Hide and Seek," became a surprise hit with its vocoder-laced a cappella delivery, recorded after a computer crash forced Heap to experiment with a Digitech Vocalist Workstation EX. The track reached mainstream attention via The O.C.'s season 2 finale.

However, it truly went viral in 2007 thanks to SNL’s “Dear Sister” parody, which turned its “Mmm whatcha say” refrain into a meme phenomenon. Funny enough, the skit also featured a young Shia LaBeouf before his Transformers stardom.
