A spokesperson for Sting stated that the spirit of this legal motion is immaterial to a portion of its letter, without giving more details.
Norwegian prog band Gazpacho to release a new album titled Magic 8-Ball on October 31. This will be their first new album in 5 years. The new single "8-ball" is streaming now.
They posted the following statement on facebook.
"Our new album - ‘Magic 8-Ball’ is going to be released on 31st October through Kscope on CD, digitally, LP and as a limited LP on gorgeous sparkle vinyl. You can pre-order your copy directly from our official store https://gazpachoworld.com/ or https://gazpacho.lnk.to/magic_8_ball
The title, Magic 8-Ball, ties into the idea of randomness and inevitability. Shaking something for answers you already suspect and repeating the cycle over and over. The idea of infinity is central. These stories repeat throughout the album. Different forms, same patterns always finding a way back. ...more
Jürgen Bartsch, the bassist and chief songwriter for extreme metal band Bethlehem, has passed away from an undisclosed illness. The news was shared on social media by current Bethlehem singer Yvonne “Onielar” Wilczynska.
While the band's sound has evolved over the years and their 10 albums, their early work is seen as a pioneering force in Depressive/Suicidal Black Metal (DSBM).
German death metallers Stillbirth have unleashed their new single, “Sacrificial Slaughter,” taken from their upcoming full-length album Survival Protocol, set for release on October 31st.
Following their previous single “Baptized in Blood,” Stillbirth showcase a seemingly new direction, one that leans more toward a focused and refined death metal approach, in contrast to the all-out, balls-to-the-wall slam/deathcore assault of their previous albums.
California deathcore outfit Spite have returned with their new single, “Lights Out,” the first offering from their upcoming album New World Killer, out October 31st.
Note: Spite hinted on August 25 via their social media that something would be released on August 27. The video was published that day about 3 to 4 hours after the tragic shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis. While the video’s themes may seem unsettling, all evidence points to an unfortunate coincidence with no connection to the incident. Such releases are typically scheduled well in advance, making any malice behind the timing unlikely.
Progressive maestros Cardiacs have released the second single from their upcoming final album LSD.
"Downup" follows on from "Woodeneye" in a style more reminiscent of the material heard on 1992's Heaven Born and Ever Bright, and again features lead vocals from Mike Vennart.
Listening parties with live acts supporting will be taking place across the UK on 14 September, before LSD's global release on 19 September.
3 years after their last effort Totem and a period that saw Max Cavalera revisit his earliest material with Cavalera Conspiracy, Soulfly have released details of their 13th album Chama, due out 24 October 2025 via Nuclear Blast.
To coincide with the album's announcement, the band have released the first single, "Storm the Gates". Notably, the song returns to the nu/groove metal sound of their first 4 albums, albeit with a greater thrash influence than the aforementioned efforts. The album was again produced by Arthur Rizk and is the first since 2018's Ritual not to feature bassist Mike Leon. It is not yet known if touring guitarist Mike DeLeon and bassist Chase Bryant performed on the album.
Chama track list:
1. Indigenous Inquisition
2. Storm the Gates
3. Nihilist (feat. Todd Jones of Nails)
4. No Pain = No Power (feat. Dino Cazares of Fear Factory, Ben Cook & Gabriel Franco)

It has been sixteen long years since Mudvayne have released any new music. The band went on hiatus in 2010, eventually reforming in 2021. Since then, the band have toured extensively but haven't released any new music, despite fervent outcry from their fans. Finally, the band have dropped a new song titled "Hurt People Hurt People", hinting at more new music coming in the near future.
British metal band Cradle of Filth have fired Marek “Ashok” Smerda, days after his keyboardist/vocalist wife, Zoe Federoff, quit the band mid-tour. His firing also comes after he announced he would quit the band after their Latin/South American tour concluded.
Federoff cited years of unprofessional, abusive, and manipulative behavior, along with exploitative low pay, as her reasons for leaving. Smerda cited similar reasons, as well as the existence of a CoF/Ed Sheeran collaboration song as the impetus for his desire to leave. Smerda is also demanding all his contributions to the band’s upcoming album, as well as the Ed Sheeran collab, to be trashed.
Dani Filth, frontman of the band, has accused Smerda of defaming the band by telling fans the tour would be cancelled, while also apologizing to fans for the inferior performance the band will give until they find a replacement guitarist. Federoff was replaced immediately by a crew member who doubled as ...more
New York-based blackened deathcore band Moonwaves have released their latest single “A Sign of Virtue”. The single musically and thematically builds on the band’s hardcore and metalcore roots while integrating new symphonic elements into their sound.
"The song tackles the concepts of morality, purpose, and the subject of change along with how it intertwines with the meaning and definition of what truly is a legacy," says vocalist Steve May, who joined the band along with guitarist Brian Blanco following the departure of Moonwaves' previous vocalist and guitarist.

Texas two-piece deathgrinders Noisy Neighbors have unleashed their latest full-length assault, Insolvent, now streaming in full and accompanied by a limited-run vinyl release.
German post/atmoblack leaders Der Weg Einer Freiheit have released a second new single from their upcoming sixth album INNERN.
The new single - 'Marter' - is a different flavor than previous single 'Eos'. Where Eos is short(er), sweet, and focused on dissonant guitar interplay and a focused aggression, the new single sees them back in somewhat comfortable territory with a longer, more proggy approach to their tried and true black metal sound, but with a renewed integration of industrial-esque elements.
Former guitarist and founding member of the Atlanta metal band Mastodon, Brent Hinds, was killed in a motorcycle accident last night, as confirmed by local news site Atlanta News First and the Fulton County coroner. The other driver involved in the accident failed to yield while turning at an intersection. Hinds was 51.
Earlier this year, Brent Hinds exited Mastodon in a seemingly acrimonious split and continued on with his project Fiend Without a Face. The band had yet to find a permanent guitarist at the time of Brent's passing, but commented on the news:
"We are in a state of unfathomable sadness and grief... last night Brent Hinds passed away as a result of a tragic accident. We are heartbroken, shocked, and still trying to process the loss of this creative force with whom we've shared so many triumphs, milestones, and the creation of music that has touched the hearts of so many. Our hearts are with Brent's family, friends, and fans. At this time ...more

New Zealand's main musical figure, which is not named Lorde, has reveiled what seems to be a stand-alone single titled "Touching". Hailing from Boston MA, alternative/heavy rock outfit Miltown has disclosed two new songs at the official Bandcamp location of Man Alive Records.
Titled "Cleverer" and "Unraveling", both cuts are part of the band's upcoming debut album Tales of Never Letting Go, due out on September 5.
Miltown had recorded the material in the late '90s, but they disbanded right before mixing. The master tapes had been shelved in some South California warehouse hitherto.

Swedish melodeath legends At the Gates have announced that singer Tomas Lindberg is suffering from cancer.
According to the recent announcement, Lindberg has been suffering from adenoid cystic carcinoma, a form of mouth cancer, since December 2023, causing the band to cancel all their upcoming shows and go almost entirely radio-silent. He experienced a setback in early May, which, according to Lindberg, is another tumor inaccessible through surgery or radiation therapy.
Both the band and Lindberg have issued statements:
"We want to take a moment to update you on what’s been happening with At the Gates, and to do so, we need to take you back about a year and a half.
Below, you’ll find a message from Tomas, written this past March 2025, where he reflects on the past 15 months and the reasons for the radio silence. However, in early May, Tomas experienced a health setback. Since then, he has been hospitalised and has bee ...more
