After a long 4 year wait, San Diego Post-Hardcore band Lower Definition have finally revealed their new full length studio album, which is titled The Purpose of the Moon. Along with the unveiling of the album, slated for a January 9, 2026 release, comes two singles which can be streamed below.

The titans of baddiecore are back with another new single, titled "Dying to Love". This is their third new single in recent months, however, a new album is yet to be announced.
Earlier, the legendary german black metal project "The Ruins Of Beverast" debuted "Alpha Fluids" a new track from their forthcoming album "Tempelschlaf". The aforementioned record is scheduled for release on January 9, 2026 via Van records.
Klaus Doldinger passed away on 16 October 2025 at the age of 89. He is probably best known by his collaboration in the German prog jazz rock/fusion band Passport that was formed in 1971. He was one the founder members of the band being a permanent collaborative member of Passport. Passport released more than 30 albums all over the years. Doldinger was also known as a frequent collaborator of the German filmmaker Wolfgang Petersen on many of his films as a score composer, including "Das Boot" from 1981 and "The Never Ending Story" from 1985.
LIMP BIZKIT bassist Sam Rivers has died at the age of 48.
On Saturday, October 18, a post on Instagram announced that Sam Rivers had passed away earlier in the day. No cause of death was released. The entire post stated:
"Today we lost our brother. Our bandmate. Our heartbeat," the band wrote in the caption, alongside a photo of Rivers performing onstage.
"Sam Rivers wasn't just our bass player — he was pure magic. The pulse beneath every song, the calm in the chaos, the soul in the sound," the band continued. "From the first note we ever played together, Sam brought a light and a rhythm that could never be replaced. His talent was effortless, his presence unforgettable, his heart enormous.

The much-maligned Corpus Christi metalcore group Design the Skyline have returned in a peculiar way this week.
After a period of silence since 2018's visual kei inspired single "In Dreams", Design the Skyline - now consisting of original members Dani Ray and Matt Ryan, released a new single called "Beckoning" on 16 October, along with launching all new social media pages. The song marks a return to the band's deathcore roots.
However, the following day, another Design the Skyline using the band's original socials posted a statement claiming that the version fronted by Eric Azure is the sole legitimate version of the band, along with ressuing their Synthetic Cities EP and Galactical Celebration demo on streaming services. San Diego hardcore outfit Negative Blast are back to serve up another ferocious batch of tunes, with their new album Destroy Myself for Fun!. Their fantastic debut album Echo Planet was a superlative powerhouse that blended the unfettered energy of bands like The Bronx, Gallows and Fucked Up but brought a modern spin on it. French artist Sierra Veins, formally known as Sierra, is set to release her brand new album, In the Name of Blood, on the 7th November. In the Name of Blood is a brutal mix of darkwave, EDM and synthwave and, in her words, the album is "an introspective work about identity, self development and relates with her name’s change earlier this year."

Justin Pearson's label, Three One G Records, is set to release an interesting compilation record on 21st November, which is anchored by his podcast, Cult and Culture. The compilation LP compiles music from guests he's had on the podcast hitherto, with little excerpts at the start of each track. Some distant planet that means something mystic must be in retrograde somewhere, because legendary progressive rock band Oceansize has stepped back into the light with new offerings! Er, well, SORT OF new offerings.
It's the 15th anniversary of Oceansize's final album Self-Preserved While The Bodies Float Up this year, and due to hold ups with their label and other music biz related roadblocks, the album has long been out of print and unavailable on most streaming services.
It looks like these roadblocks have been circumnavigated, because the band has re-released their swan song back on triple vinyl as well as made it available on your favorite streaming service.
To celebrate this momentous occasion, the package also contains bonus tracks. One of these tracks, "Cloak", was available on a few releases of this album when it released - but there are other new ones as well that were unused instrumentals.

R&B idol D'Angelo passed away October 14 from pancreatic cancer, aged 51. At the time of his death he was reportedly collaborating with Raphael Saadiq on his fourth studio album, which is now planned to be released posthumously.
Earlier this day the ukranian black metal band "Windswept" premiered a new track called "Investigation" from their upcoming album "The Devil's Vertep". The record will be relesead by Season of Mist on December 12.
Russian lofi/blackened post punk outfit Veld (Вельд), is streaming its first demo at the official Bandcamp location of Kazakh imprint Obscurant Visions.
Titled Лунное Молоко, the long player was officially released by Horrible Room Records last June, whereas the license to Obscurant Visions has been effected since October 10.

Convicted pedophile and former Lostprophets lead singer Ian Watkins was killed in a stabbing at a British prison earlier this morning.
In 2013, Watkins was sentenced to 29 years in prison for horrific sexual misconduct against victims as young as one year old. Watkins was previously assaulted and held hostage in 2023.
It’s been four years since the release of Rob Zombie’s last album, The Lunar Injection Kool Aid Eclipse Conspiracy. In that time both long-time members John 5 and Piggy D have left the band to pursue other opportunities – the former joining Motley Crue, the latter Marilyn Manson. For long-time fans, they will be pleased to know these vacancies have been filled with original members Mike Riggs and Rob “Blasko” Nicholson on guitar and bass, respectively. Now, the band has announced a full-length album, titled The Great Satan, penned for release 27th February. Accompanying the announcement is their first single off the record, titled “Punks and Demons”, which brings Zombie's sound back to his roots.

The band issued the following statement through social media:
My Dying Bride have decided to part ways with vocalist Aaron Stainthorpe.
Please understand that this decision does not come lightly, hence our initial and painful silence while we gathered our thoughts and carefully considered our response to the disengaged, eerily abandoned state we suddenly found ourselves in.
Our collective decision to move forward without him is not something we thought we would ever be forced to say, but to ensure a continued legacy for what we hold dear to our hearts, we simply have to move past this. American thrash metalcore group Trivium has officially announced that they have parted ways (again) with their longtime drummer, Alex Bent. Bent first joined the band back in 2016, with his first appearance being 2017s The Sin and the Sentence. This news comes in as Trivium are preparing to tour later this month, with Greyson Nekrutman from Sepultura covering as a touring drummer.
Bent released a statement on social media:
I am beyond grateful for the incredible past 9 years with Trivium—filled with unforgettable moments, music, and friendships that I’ll always carry with me. I’m so proud of every record and tour we created together, and I know Trivium will continue to dominate the world; they’ll always have my support.

London based Melodic Hardcore band Death of Youth have released a new single entitled “Fix Your Heart or Die”. Their first release since their 2020 EP Suburban Dystopia, the single is said the issue of transgender rights and how governments demonise the transgender community to create a scapegoat to distract from their own failings.
"Fix Your Heart or Die" is out now on most streaming platforms, and the video is currently streaming on YouTube.

This is the band's newest offering since 2022's Omens.
