04.10.14 | I guess it depends for each genre but I find it interesting. |
MO
04.10.14 | It depends on the sound imo. when I play live it's awesome when the crowd gets into it (being that it's metal it's pretty ideal). I've been to shows where you get so absorbed with the music that you just watch in awe and get sucked in. I've watched that performance and wasn't that in their infancy? I'm pretty sure people had little idea of how to react to them and were totally floored. |
Nocturnal
04.10.14 | I would wanna see as much boob as possible. |
ZombicidalMan
04.10.14 | I much preferred the atmosphere at Godspeed, which was "sit down and shut up" than, say, Iron Maiden, where everyone was just yelling and singing along.
As an audience member I like to interact as little as possible. As a performer, some applause and maybe clapping to the beat is all I require |
OZZGabriel
04.10.14 | Nocturnal: Yeah, but do you wanna see them jumping up and down or standing still? |
BMDrummer
04.10.14 | I don't know, depends on the show. For a band like Slayer or Iron Maiden, yeah I'd like them to jump all around and stuff like that. I've always hated incredibly violent crowds though, I love jumping around at punk shows and stuff like that but I hate when people fight. At a show for Godspeed or a band like that, as Zombicidal said, just sit down and shut up. |
emester
04.10.14 | Im more fond of the sit down and listen shows, but when the atmosphere is right singing and jumping with the crowd can be an even more memorable experience. However I downright hate shows where people are just plain fucking violent and everyone leaves the gig with at least 2 broken ribs |

04.10.14 | I mostly like thrash/death metal so going nuts is the only way |
betray
04.10.14 | Really depends on the show.
Been to too many post-hardcore and pop-punk shows where everybody is moshing/throwing down the entire set (Even during an acoustic song), so that's really fucking annoying.
But on the other hand I've been to a few thrash/dxc/death metal shows where everyone's standing still like a zombie and that's stupid too. |
ArsMoriendi
04.10.14 | @Betray: People mosh during mellow songs? That's incredibly stupid.
I don't mosh anyway. I'm too much of a pussy to risk getting broken bones or a bloody nose and I'm okay with that. |
StallionMang
04.10.14 | I wouldn't want full-on moshing at a show, but I definitely wouldn't want a completely quiet and behaved crowd either. Ideally it would be just a fun, high-energy show with a loose atmosphere, and as much singing-along as possible |
betray
04.10.14 | Ars, just depends on the crowd. Most of the time people are respectful. |
Tunaboy45
04.10.14 | Me and my friend like to jump/push/generally mosh but we don't take it overboard. None of that bro slamming bullshit. |
ArsMoriendi
04.10.14 | A loud crowd is fine, a dnacing crowd is fine, singing along is awesome and is what made NIN so great.
However... recklessly bumping into to people while flailing around scares the crap out of me. |
Tunaboy45
04.10.14 | I saw limp bizkit in February (here comes the hate) and the crowd was fantastic, with lots of band to crowd interaction. |
Tunaboy45
04.10.14 | Everyone was energetic and lively but no one took it too far. If you fell over, there would always be someone there to pick you up. |
climactic
04.10.14 | anything ending in -core: mosh yr brains out
anything else: have some fucking respect |
InFlamesWeThrash666
04.10.14 | Moshing is really fun when people do it right and they don't try to kill you lol |
PitchforkArms
04.10.14 | it really depends for sure. i play post rock shows, and i like when you can tell the crowd is feeling it |
PitchforkArms
04.10.14 | all i know is that hardcore dancing is ridiculous |
InFlamesWeThrash666
04.10.14 | Yeah "hardcore" dancers really know how to ruin a show |
betray
04.10.14 | hardcore dancing/throwing down/slam dancing whatever you want to call it might seem ridiculous and intimidating but really if everyone's respectful, and they keep the arm flailing IN the pit, it's pretty harmless.
but there's always the couple of douchebags deliberately trying to hurt people that give it a bad rep |
reportingbird
04.10.14 | i hate mindless moshing |
climactic
04.10.14 | "but there's always the couple of douchebags deliberately trying to hurt people that give it a bad rep"
key word: always
fuck hardcore dancers, when i go to a show, i wanna watch the band, not constantly guard myself from the fuckers flailing their arms like an idiot 1 foot away from me
|
betray
04.10.14 | I mean, I agree dude. And I only do it to very specific bands. But if everyone would treat a show as an outlet for energy instead of an excuse to hurt people, it wouldn't have such a bad rep |
Funeralopolis
04.10.14 | I like moshing and crazy crowds because it really gets the energy going. If you don't want to mosh you can always step back anyways so not really an issue. |
PuddlesPuddles
04.10.14 | The crowd was probably not that impressed, to be honest. This was early Zeppelin, so they weren't told to love them yet. |
PitchforkArms
04.10.14 | yeah, if everyone is just into the music and running around and pushing towards the stage, im good with that |
greencorn5
05.06.14 | The crowd was probably for the most part on LSD, not usually a "screamer" drug. |
