Simmer And Shine...

Headed down to the laneway festival on Sunday, which was amazing, most of the stuff here i've picked up after watching them play live. Anyway, as usual, rec's are appreciated.
1Bat For Lashes
Fur And Gold

Stunning - Natasha Khan's voice is a storytelling marvel, with dark and sparse instrumentation to boot, this is mindblowing. Her new record is gonna be one of the defining moments of 09.
2Firekites
The Bowery

Really really pretty, stripped down acoustic indie, in the vein of Stars, but with a more autumy feel to it, these guys are beautiful live.
3DJ Hidden
The Later After

Darkstep at it's finest, for fans of ridiculous Drum N' Bass with heavy dubstep undertures.
4Optikatechniqua
Sinister Dub

IDM/Dubstep, this is named after exactly what it sounds like, unsettling, deep and most importantly, different.
5The Appleseed Cast
Sagarmatha

I hope these guys get as much recognition as possible with this album, gorgeous indie post-rock, it's music to fall in love to.
6Lotus Plaza
The Floodlight Collective

Lockett Pundt's (of Deerhunter) solo album, The Floodlight Collective will throw you underwater and twirl you around like nothing since MBV's Loveless.
7Pale Young Gentlemen
Black Forest (tra la la)

Baroque post-punk indie whatever, I've been digging the myspace tracks for months now and finally got off my a'ss to pick it up, and it's as marvelous as it is strange.
8No Age
Nouns

It's Subpop, of course it's good. Crazy/good fun indie noise punk, great live act for a two piece.
9Talking Heads
Remain In Light

Took my time in getting my hands on this, and for an art-punk album that defined the scene in the 80s, yea, this lives up to it's image.
10Mansun
Six

It's like if the Manic St Preachers went prog, Mansun write epic pieces of British 90s rock and won't let go until you're utterly exhausted.
11The Boxer Rebellion
Union

These guys have been making big waves online (makes sense, given this album was only released digitally), they're sorta like Coldplay v.2. If you like that.
12El Guincho
Alegranza!

The Spanish Animal Collective? Not terribly impressed, and wasn't all too hot live either.
13Cancer Bats
Hail Destroyer

Hard hitting hardcore, good fun, but gets tiring only a couple of tracks in.
14 Lily Allen
It's Not Me, It's You

I look into your eyes, I want to get to know ya, than you make this noise and it's apparent it's all ova - F'uckin classic Lily.
