10.21.16 | I work similar hours on weekends (5am - 1pm on Saturdays, 5am - 12pm on Sundays). My advice would be to sneak in a couple small snacks sprinkled throughout the shift and drink a ton of water to keep yourself hydrated and energized.
Sometimes I like to have a very small pseudo-breakfast (like a Breakfast Essential and some almonds or something) before leaving for work, and then use my break time (usually around 8:00-ish) to have my full breakfast (I work at a Dunkin Donuts, so I usually make myself a quick sandwich and iced coffee; if you're working in a field other than food service, then maybe bring a sandwich and beverage from home?) |

10.21.16 | Congrats on the job! I work early hours as well.

Stretch as you wake up (gets blood flowing) |

10.21.16 | I used to start at 5am
Just sleepwalk through your shift honestly it goes by faster that way anyway
I used to crash hard when I got home though so it wasn't really worth getting out so early |

10.21.16 | what more advice do you need lol? go to bed early, take stimulants if you're struggling until your body acclimatizes to the new schedule. Or go for a run before work to wake yourself up.
I've done shift work before but while my sleep cycle is currently fucked (its 6am and im still up) its self imposed coz i seem to really smash out assignments best during the early hours. on that note im off to bed. |

10.21.16 | I do retail/warehouse work and had a week of 5am starts about a year ago, I remember loving walking to work in pitch black at 4.30 cos that 4-5 hour has to be like the deadest of the day right? Listened to TOTBL and it was epiphanic |

10.21.16 | Your dietary habits will make a big difference. Heavy foods can make your lack of sleep harder to fight through. |

I personally just consume silly amounts of caffeine but thats probably a bad idea |

10.22.16 | I used to do mornings in television. I'm not a coffee drinker but getting on a schedule with regular naps during the day seemed to help. |

10.22.16 | getting up that early is almost impossible to get used to tbh
my advice would just be not to crash when you get off, or if so only for a quick nap |
