i can give you some of my favs if you want tho | Cygnatti
04.20.13 | That works. As long as it is catchy and or prettyful. :3 | toxin.
04.20.13 | well what instruments?
like i fucking love the sound of cellos but do not like violin much (probably why 4 seasons is SO UGHHHHH) and i'm a pianist (but so are you?) so most of my fav. pieces are piano or cello (and maybe full orchestra too but tbh i haven't listened to too many orchestral pieces) | Cygnatti
04.20.13 | I play violin and piano. When I was a freshman, I soooo wanted to play cello, but I tried playing double bass (just fooling around), and I epically failed at it. So playing a cello may or may not have been any better.
I like any of the orchestra instruments, but I appreciate the overall tone of the viola far more than the violin (it has like a smoother and fuller sound, and not as shrill). Ever since I got into post punk, I've appreciated the double bass (and bass guitar, for that matter) a whole lot more. But cellos are my favorites overall. | Cygnatti
04.20.13 | Lakes, I'm deleting that comment. >:I | toxin.
04.20.13 | my favorite cello piece, and maybe my fav piece of music ever, is elgar's cello concerto
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZ4qR6zfC0Q
it's only like 4 min, the rest is unfortunately missing but holy shit the tone of this guy's cello is glorious. if you wanna listen to the whole thing, listen to du pre's rendition (all over the internet) which is prob the best i've heard (still not as good as sonmez's tho)
i'd also say listen to Bach's cello suites, iirc #4 was my fav. i also adore dvorak's cello concerto (fukacova is who my cellist friend swears by, i haven't heard it enough to corroborate tho) and i've listened to hayden's cello concerto once and thought it was pre good. vivaldi's double concerto is fun, esp for a vivaldi piece lol
i'd rec you piano but i really don't know too much classical piano, it's almost embarrassing :| tho if you want some recent stuff i'd def say check out george winston (the one i rated recently), great new age stuff (even if he doesn't like being associated with classical lol). i guess the obvious stuff like moonlight sonata, clair de lune, tchaikovsky's first piano concerto, metamorphoses (tho haven't properly listened to these either), la campanella, rachmaninoff's prelude in c# minor. chopin's 12th prelude (op 25) is one one of my personal favs too.
nothing here isn't entry level tho so keep that in mind | parksungjoon
