treeqt.
06.27.13 | Keep a dream diary and maybe change to a polyphasic sleep cycle to get more intense dreams. At least that's what I remember. |

06.27.13 | Idk I never went through all the effort myself because it kinda came to me naturally to an extent but from what I remember keeping a dream diary alone gets you pretty far, it just takes some time. |

06.27.13 | I don't think I've ever had a sex dream. Or I can't remember them.

06.27.13 | Yes. You can't really do a lot of physical exercise though. |
anarchistfish
06.27.13 | I read somewhere that splitting sleep into multiple smaller blocks is meant to be better for you.
So impractical though. |
TMobotron
06.27.13 | Pretty sure anyone who actually has done that ends up just being miserable and going back to their reasonable life. |

Kman418
06.27.13 | "I only wanted to do it so I could get loads of sex dreams" yeah lol |
YourDarkAffected
06.27.13 | I do inconsistently, but basically you need to train your mind to subconsciously identify triggers such as looking at clocks and reading the time. Usually, the numbers will be all messed up and that can let you know you are dreaming and then that will put you into a lucid dream. You need to keep a dream diary and record everything that you remember about your dream every morning. You'll be able to remember more and more of your dream and then subconsciously you'll be able to differentiate between the dream and reality better, which will be necessary for lucid dreaming. It takes a while to get to that point, but those are the basic ways to acquire it. |
Kman418
06.27.13 | i slept in 4 hour chunks every 8 hours and it actually worked pretty well
the only problem is when you miss one or you can't get to sleep during one you get totally fucked up |
anarchistfish
06.27.13 | I might try this out. Problem is real life wants you to conform. |
bach
06.27.13 | Wonder how lucid sex dreams work. Since it's magnitudes more realistic, won't you get turned down? |
tommygun
06.27.13 | yea |
YourDarkAffected
06.27.13 | Yea, I tried polyphasic sleep once but it's too difficult to maintain unless you work at home and literally have no major commitments because if you miss one of the sleep increments, you're a zombie for the next few days. It sucks. When it works, you have way more time in the day though, which is sweet. But most of the time it sucks. |
anarchistfish
06.27.13 | Wait what that means you sleep 12 hours q day |
foxblood
06.27.13 | i have really vivid dreams pretty regularly, but i've never done much to instigate it besides writing them down on occasion. a few years ago it got to the point where i would have trouble differentiating whether or not i really did something or if i dreamed it. like i'd make plans based off of information i didn't realize came from a dream |
YourDarkAffected
06.27.13 | what? The one I did wasn't the uberman cycle (six 20-min naps every 4 hours) because ain't nobody got time for dat, but I did the everyman which is a 4.5 hour major nap (at night) and then three 20-min naps during the rest of the day |
ZombicidalMan
06.27.13 | There's some tea you can get which helps you lucid dream (if you try to) or with dream recall. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It tastes great though. |
TMobotron
06.27.13 | "I know one person that does 4 x 30 and that totally doesn't match him."
How long as he been doing it? Every report I've heard from people doing it for a long period of time has been that they eventually can't keep up with it. |
Cygnatti
06.27.13 | I've actually had a deja vu moment, my dream seemed to detail almost exactly what would happen in the proceeding school day. |
treeqt.
06.27.13 | "Wait what that means you sleep 12 hours q day"
no you sleep 4 hours and are awake for 8, so you basically have 8 hours of sleep a day and 16 hours
of
being awake. it is basically a normal 8/16 monophasic sleep cycle split in half. This is already an
improvement in quality of sleep but it's not really one in time efficiency since you ideally sleep
7-8
hours anyway.
|
anarchistfish
06.27.13 | Everyman looks interesting. Would definitely help me fit in with my nocturnal lifestyle.
Oh yeah I sometimes mix up real life and dreams too. I actually started a dream journal a few days ago but fuck it takes ages to write everything down cos I recall loads and it comes in disorganised clumps rather than chronologically. |
Kman418
06.27.13 | yeah tree it was just cause i was shit at getting to sleep on time so i would get to bed at 2 and wake up at 6 so then when i got home i was fucked and was like welp gotta sleep some more and then that just repeated for like 4 months lol |
GiaNXGX
06.27.13 | too much effort just do dregs |
treeqt.
06.27.13 | "what? The one I did wasn't the uberman cycle (six 20-min naps every 4 hours) because ain't nobody got time for dat, but I did the everyman which is a 4.5 hour major nap (at night) and then three 20-min naps during the rest of the day"
From what I read that is basically the best mix of efficiency and maintainability.
6 x 20 seems really hard to schedule although probably a bit more healthy than 4 x 30.
"How long as he been doing it? Every report I've heard from people doing it for a long period of time has been that they eventually can't keep up with it."
Well over a year. He goes to college and has a very convenient schedule. He also does performance enhancing drugs when needed.

06.27.13 | If I was a writer or someone who worked at home and had to freedom to do the uberman consistently, I totally would. That frees up so much time in your day (and night) and you'd get a hell of a lot done |

06.27.13 | I have 3 months off so I'm totally gonna try this. Only problem is I spend two weeks in July doing some research scheme in south Africa which will fuck shit up and I'm on a diving course which takes up the whole weekend and I get the impression missing any nap is bad |
YourDarkAffected
06.27.13 | Yea, they need to be within 15 minutes or so within the time you set your body for, otherwise you will feel like shit. It sounds like it wouldn't matter much, but your body gets to the point where it depends on those naps and depends on them to be at certain times. |
omgbecky
06.27.13 | Lucid dreaming suck. Btw, < 3 #3 |
ethixx
06.27.13 | it's easy i posted a lot about it in another lucid dreaming thread a while back like maybe six months ago. i used to do it every day but it went away from me for a while because idk i wasn't feeling really in touch with myself for a good month or two but it recently started coming back to me consistently maybe four days ago so i'm really happy about that because creativity boosts a lot when you lucid dream
music while sleeping, writing the dream after you're done, telling yourself you're going to lucid dream before you sleep, and triggers (like bringing something you know inside and out into the dream) all help a shit load as far getting to the point of lucid dreaming - you can also eat certain foods that will trigger it or wake up and look around your room or just do whatever until you feel a kind of deja vu coming on upon perceiving something and that usually will trigger a lot of memories of what happened while you were sleeping
morphine/dilaudid will you give you like torrential nightmares which can be fun but really hellish if you go too far dmt helps a lot like gian said and so does eating certain kinds of food
it's kinda spiritual, you gotta trick yourself into believing it's real and then it just becomes real, kinda hard to explain - good luck |

ethixx
06.27.13 | best tip is don't be a tryhard about it just ease into it and believe you'll be able to do it and it happens - you don't train your body to lucid dream
|
JaySpiral
06.27.13 | TL;DR with the other comments so I'm sure someone's already said it, but meditation and doing reality checks such as looking in a mirror in real life a lot could eventually make you think about it in a dream which would trigger a lucid dream. That's how I've had it described to me before. |
treeqt.
06.27.13 | It really depends on how far you go. If you do the uberman you can't really miss naps. And if you do the most important thing is to not screw your cycle over, so you basically have to stay up for 12 hours on 30 minutes of sleep instead of just 6 hours.
If you already know that you probably can't do the uberman consistenly, don't do it at all. Try something else like one big chunk and multiple small ones (4 + 2 x 1 for example) or a triphasic 6 + 2 cycle.
The benefit of those easier cycles is that you can get in and out of them relatively easy and thus just test them till you have the one that fits you the best. |
anarchistfish
06.27.13 | Yeah this is the everyman cycle which is one block plus several smaller ones. Obvious disadvantage of any of these is you can't really do any extended activity which takes up a whole day or afternoon |
treeqt.
06.27.13 | I would up the small ones to half an hour. I remember reading that going under half an hour does more harm than it helps you but that obviously differs from person to person. I would definitely test it with 30 min first though. |
YourDarkAffected
06.27.13 | Right. The only thing with your schedule is that the intervals between periods are different. Idk if you did that on purpose, but it's best to make the intervals the same in time. |
treeqt.
06.27.13 | Well you can totally miss sleep with an everyman cycle every now and then because you aren't as dependent on the small ones. |

06.27.13 | "I read somewhere that splitting sleep into multiple smaller blocks is meant to be better for you."
I call BS on that. Your body goes through different stages when entering sleep, by having "naps"
throughout the day it will fuck up your internal clock. You'll end up feeling tired at like 3 in the
afternoon. Since you've been having naps around that time your body will make you feel tired.
As for lucid dreams, I only can remember having 1. I was really tiny in my house (like The Borrowers
film) and just realised I was in a dream. My parents then told me I wasn't. Weird dream....
Best dream I ever had was a parkour dream though, they're fuckin amazing! Like being in Mirror's
Edge or something. |
anarchistfish
06.27.13 | https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyphasic_sleep
whole point is you reach those "stages" more efficiently if you split sleep up |
Cygnatti
07.05.13 | so yeah, right now, this ain't really working out. I know when I'm dreaming and whatnot, but immediately after waking up, I can't remember it AT ALL. |
