NEW AGE or IMPROV

no album over like 80 minutes plzzz

ALL USED
2Mike Oldfield
Amarok

Ovrot

This album a real adventure. “Amarok” is a true showcase of creativity and instrumental talent. Mr. Oldfield apparently plays all 30+ instruments on this album and they all coalesce into one massive folky single track new-age odyssey. Sound-wise the album is quite warm, inviting, and whimsical but does get a bit too cheesy at times.

Highlights: It’s only one song bruhh

Airs

Frivolous

Friv takes a bite at the improv option and recs me some truly dazzling ambient folky goodness. “Airs” is comprised of many shorter length improvised guitar compositions. The album doesnt have the greatest amount of variety but what it lacks in diversity it makes up for in its simplistic beauty.

Highlights: genuinely not sure, the album was pretty consistent

Into the Heart of Love

FullOfSounds

Sounds takes a trip to the RYM charts and snags me his first pick. Its a tropical new age acoustic jam that may not have scored him the win, but gave me a nice listening experience anyway. The record is tranquil and has a carefree sound but was slightly lacking in its general delivery in my opinion.

Highlights: “Make me Tea” and “Trish’s Return”
