The Killers Ranked. boy is okay i guess. the seven LP's

Wonderful Wonderful

2.5/5

This is as harsh as I get on them. The three song run of Rut-Life To Come-Run For Cover is the peak, the rest ranges from middling filler to plain unappealing. What is Out Of My Mind supposed to be? Does the closer realize how stupid it sounds? It'll have to remain a mystery - I don't revisit this one at all.

Rut, Life To Come, Run For Cover

3.4/5

Bombast that blends together. Big highlights for me in Spaceman and Dustland Fairytale, and the rest of the album is simply pleasant to listen to, barring one track.

Human, Spaceman, Dustland Fairytale, Neon Tiger, The World We Live In

3.6/5

Mr. Brightside and a bunch of other songs - moment ruined by Andy You're A Star and On Top but still has some good tunes, albeit a bit dated

Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine, Mr. Brightside, Midnight Show, Glamorous Indie Rock & Roll

Battle Born

4/5

Pure ham, pure cheese. Sincerely desperate is how Flowers' songs come off here, but sometimes that's just what you need, bookended by some VERY large hype montage arena rock songs.

Flesh and Bone, The Way It Was, Runaways, Deadlines and Commitments, Battle Born

Sam's Town

4/5

Flowers' first attempt at channeling Springsteen goes pretty well. When You Were Young is a MASSIVE classic, and the rest of the album reaches for its heights as best it can. This River Is Wild and Why Do I Keep Counting are incredible back to back songs that act as a raw, triumphant finale

When You Were Young, Sam's Town, Bones, This River Is Wild, Why Do I Keep Counting

Imploding the Mirage

4.2/5

New life breathed into The Killers sound, music driven by rhythm, fantastical hooks accented by heavenly synths, and a better sense of poetic lyricism. Lightning Fields, a conversation between a husband and his late wife, brings a tear to my eye. Songs about the strength of love, the allure of religion, and supporting your depressed wife all find their way on here in top form.

Lightning Fields, My God, My Own Souls Warning, Imploding The Mirage

Pressure Machine

4.5/5

Close as they'll get to Springsteen, Pressure Machine weaves about its runtime the imagery and stories of a the fraying rural patchwork that make up most of America. It is played awfully straight coming from Flowers, a refreshing way to hear the frontman write songs.

West Hills, Quiet Town, Sleepwalker, In Another Life, Desperate Things
