Making Music Is Slower Now?

I've been thinking about this topic, and I couldn't come up with a good ranswer myself and am skeptical whether it's just coincidence or there is ractually some well developed reasons. Bands and artists long ago, let's rsay the 60's or something, were able to throw music out to the world like rthey were the paperboy. The Beatles released an album just about every ryear. The Doors released 6 albums in 4ish years. The Jimi Hendrix rExperience released all 3 albums in a year and a half. Doesn't even have rto be the 60's. The Police had their first 4 albums one every year. The rfirst 4 critically acclaimed albums from Led Zeppelin were all in 2-3 years. rYou get the point and I could easily go on. Not to mention, arguably, all rthese albums were not half-assed, they were of great quality and were rloaded with inspiration. Today it's like a good percentage of bands have rto wait multiple years only to come up with a (quite often than not) ralright-good album. Bands like The Dillinger Escape Plan, while they are ractually very good, just about all of their albums have had a 3 year gap. rRHCP - from BSSM, there has been an average of a 4 year gap between ralbums. Muse have like a 2-3 year period between albums, etc. Why do rbands today have such a long waiting period for recording. Is it because rof there being more touring than there was before? Or maybe because rthere are so many bands nowadays compared to what they had 30 years rago?
