Emo Recs

I've done a pretty good job at exploring most of the genres the world has to offer, but emo has definitely been left out of the picture just because I had no idea really where to start or what I was looking for. I've had a couple friends recommend American Football (I hear they're a given) and The Appleseed Cast so I'm going to check them out. I'm open to all recommendations, however I'm really not big on the sappy, pop-punk influenced or melodramatic side of emo. I think I like more traditional sounding emo than some of the more modern/recent bands coming out my friends have showed me. Below are some that I've listened to that I like a good bit to give a broad look at what I'm interested in. Thanks fams, have a nice day.
1Pity Sex
Dark World
2Weezer
Pinkerton
3The Saddest Landscape
You Will Not Survive

My roommate's friend is apparently in this band, but this is basically the opposite of what I like in this genre. I think the vocals are just too whiny and always at the forefront - being over the top. I want the sadness in the music to be subtle and to come off on it's own - not planted right in my face. I don't know, they aren't bad, but I've gotten older now so mindless screams and melancholy riffs all the way up to 11 are pretty cliche.
