| My Most Underwhelming Albums Of 2011-12
The albums that were most disappointing to me, personally over the past
year or so. I'm sure I'm forgetting some, but quickly off the top of my
head... | 10 | | Chevelle Hats Off To The Bull
Just beat out Threat Signal's self-titled for the 10 spot. After a decent single, I
personally felt this album was very mediocre. Envy was a very interesting song, but
other than that, I was thoroughly unimpressed, and even though I don't love
Chevelle, I was pretty confident they were going to throw me something I would
enjoy a fair amount, but it was very forgettable for me. | 9 | | Axewound Vultures
I'm not exactly sure why I was expecting such good things, but I was. I'm a big
BFMV fan, and Cold didn't really sound like them, but it was still pretty good. The
album itself, however, was extremely mundane. Other than Collide, I really got
nothing else from the album, and I was expecting something better than decent. | 8 | | Evanescence Evanescence
Loved Fallen. This album was incredibly bland. That's really all there is to say. | 7 | | Five Finger Death Punch American Capitalist
Yes, I like FFDP. They can deliver some pretty good pump-up music; this album
didn't deliver any. It was just shitty radio-metal that was confused when it tried to
get aggressive, very similar to All That Remains, only I had much higher
expectations for ATR, which made that worse. | 6 | | Blink-182 Neighborhoods
This should be in the 4 slot. I fucking love Blink-182, especially for nostalgic
purposes. I would've loved to get another Enema of the State. I got nothing of the
sort. | 5 | | In Flames Sounds of a Playground Fading
The days of Colony were extremely impressive. And personally, I loved Reroute to
Remain, and even Come Clarity even though I know many didn't like these albums
cause it showed In Flames changing too much. The vocals got better to me, and I
was hoping for the instrumentation of Colony and Clayman, and the vocals of Come
Clarity, but the instrumentation was far behind and the vocals were too uninspired. I
still enjoyed some tracks off the album anyway, such as Deliver Us. Disappointing
though. | 4 | | Miss May I At Heart
I never liked this band very much, but I have liked a lot of their guitar-work in the
past, and on this album for that matter, but the clean vocalist sucks. Thought they
were going to take a step forward in all directions, especially vocally, and it was a
step back, leaving us with a pretty bad metalcore album with some good guitar riffs,
which got repetitive without any help. | 3 | | All That Remains A War You Cannot Win
I wanted a more refined TFOI. I got a shitty, confused soft radio-metal album. What
a drop-off. Fucking horrible disappointment. | 2 | | Red Hot Chili Peppers I'm With You
Has been one of my favorite bands for a long time. They had been fairly consistent
as well. I loved both By the Way and Stadium Arcadium but this was hugely
underwhelming. | 1 | | Linkin Park Living Things
Massively disappointing. I guess I shouldn't have expected anything, but I was
hoping they would return to a more mature HT, which would have been glorious from
my point of view; got something terribly average. | |

12.09.12 | So disappointed by 1-8. It really is a crushing feeling to check out a new album and to get few to no good songs from it. | ThroneOfAgony
12.09.12 | 10 wasn't that bad | bach
12.09.12 | In Flames have been massively underwhelming for 10+ years. | bach
12.09.12 | All That Remains want to be FFDP. Period. | Trebor.
12.09.12 | Well when you expect shit to be anything other than shit you're going to have a bad time | bach
12.09.12 | I expected better from RHCP and blink, though. | oltnabrick
12.09.12 | GKMC???? | FearThyEvil
12.09.12 | Well gee, I wonder why these albums sucked. 10 rules though | MeatSalad
12.09.12 | Gotta agree with treb except for rhcp | demigod!
12.09.12 | only heard the lead single off that rhcp album and it was great | Keyblade
12.09.12 | "It was just shitty radio-metal that was confused when it tried to get aggressive"
ffdp have always been like this tho | toxin.
12.09.12 | yeah 6 sucked | Emim
12.09.12 | 10 and 5 are both great | Ecnalzen
12.09.12 | I was pretty disappointed in 10. It feels like they are just going through the motions at this point. Hopefully, they will try something different on their next record. Fizgig was a pretty cool song. Maybe there is hope for the future.
6 was alright, but I wasn't really expecting anything amazing from them after all the shit that happened when they broke up. | InFiction
12.09.12 | I loved new RHCP. | HitlerIsPissed
12.09.12 | "even though I know many didn't like these albums cause it showed In Flames changing too much."
this is what every idiot thinks when people dont like the new sound of a band. change isnt the problem. if they changed in a good way id be fine with that. theyre just shit now, that is the problem. "come on guise thrye cant satay the same forver they need to experiment!! y cant u accept change?? u jhust want the same old musioc over and over again!!!" | HitlerIsPissed
12.09.12 | also, lol'd at the idea of linkin park being mature. one of the worst lists ive ever seen. | MegaJake1024
12.09.12 | Hitlerispissed, thanks for always delivering classy comments. haha. I didn't say LP was mature, I said I hoped they'd deliver a mature album. I also didn't say I thought change was the problem for In Flames. I agree the problem is they've changed in a negative way, but I still think they're good, just not as good.
@Keyblade, yeah FFDP have always been like that, but at least in their past albums, they've put out imo some good pump-up music, and this album didn't even have any of that. | djunior
12.09.12 | Really don't understand how you could have expecting anything good from these bands in the first place. | J0ckstrapsFTW
12.09.12 | Ya i used to like 4 but now they are dead to me | MegaJake1024
12.09.12 | Also riffoclock, I know its 2012. But some of my most underwhelming albums were from the very end of 2011 which is why the title says 2011-12. So you're the retard. | MegaJake1024
12.09.12 | djunior, wasn't really expecting much from any, but I was definitely hoping. Was expecting better from Axewound, Chevelle, and Blink (at least better than I got). All the others I was just hoping they'd be good. And ATR and RHCP massively underwhelmed even my fairly low expectations. And LP I was hoping for a better HT even though it was wildly unlikely. | RetroSpective
12.09.12 | agreed with 3. 2 wasnt that bad | drewcordova
12.09.12 | Agree with 2 |
