My Most Underwhelming Albums Of 2011-12

The albums that were most disappointing to me, personally over the past year or so. I'm sure I'm forgetting some, but quickly off the top of my head...
10Chevelle
Hats Off To The Bull

Just beat out Threat Signal's self-titled for the 10 spot. After a decent single, I
personally felt this album was very mediocre. Envy was a very interesting song, but
other than that, I was thoroughly unimpressed, and even though I don't love
Chevelle, I was pretty confident they were going to throw me something I would
enjoy a fair amount, but it was very forgettable for me.
9Axewound
Vultures

I'm not exactly sure why I was expecting such good things, but I was. I'm a big
BFMV fan, and Cold didn't really sound like them, but it was still pretty good. The
album itself, however, was extremely mundane. Other than Collide, I really got
nothing else from the album, and I was expecting something better than decent.
8Evanescence
Evanescence

Loved Fallen. This album was incredibly bland. That's really all there is to say.
7Five Finger Death Punch
American Capitalist

Yes, I like FFDP. They can deliver some pretty good pump-up music; this album
didn't deliver any. It was just shitty radio-metal that was confused when it tried to
get aggressive, very similar to All That Remains, only I had much higher
expectations for ATR, which made that worse.
6Blink-182
Neighborhoods

This should be in the 4 slot. I fucking love Blink-182, especially for nostalgic
purposes. I would've loved to get another Enema of the State. I got nothing of the
sort.
5In Flames
Sounds of a Playground Fading

The days of Colony were extremely impressive. And personally, I loved Reroute to
Remain, and even Come Clarity even though I know many didn't like these albums
cause it showed In Flames changing too much. The vocals got better to me, and I
was hoping for the instrumentation of Colony and Clayman, and the vocals of Come
Clarity, but the instrumentation was far behind and the vocals were too uninspired. I
still enjoyed some tracks off the album anyway, such as Deliver Us. Disappointing
though.
4Miss May I
At Heart

I never liked this band very much, but I have liked a lot of their guitar-work in the
past, and on this album for that matter, but the clean vocalist sucks. Thought they
were going to take a step forward in all directions, especially vocally, and it was a
step back, leaving us with a pretty bad metalcore album with some good guitar riffs,
which got repetitive without any help.
3All That Remains
A War You Cannot Win

I wanted a more refined TFOI. I got a shitty, confused soft radio-metal album. What
a drop-off. Fucking horrible disappointment.
2Red Hot Chili Peppers
I'm With You

Has been one of my favorite bands for a long time. They had been fairly consistent
as well. I loved both By the Way and Stadium Arcadium but this was hugely
underwhelming.
1Linkin Park
Living Things

Massively disappointing. I guess I shouldn't have expected anything, but I was
hoping they would return to a more mature HT, which would have been glorious from
my point of view; got something terribly average.
