There is definitely a knife flashing, dangerous aspect to the stuff that came out within the first few years of the 80's.

Since then they've been nothing but entry level thrash and thus sellouts as they refused to change their sound to something slightly different and that's why most songs on Master Of Puppets sound the bloody same. Face it, Metallica is as bad as all the Glam bands.

But before them was Motley Crue pioneering a new catchy sound and making a heavy metal album then destroying their legacy etc. Basically they had some big guns before hitting the shit. Same goes to W.A.S.P. and Skid Row who never had a bad album. (If anything Skid Row was more metal than ever in the future)save for maybe later alt rock like efforts that sucked. They still had the legacy however.

But that doesn't mean you can't still love Van Halen and Def Lep. Everyone else was pretty much just copying them.

I've only heard Lovehunter and some stuff from the 80s (1987) Viper you should listen to Shout At The Devil by Motley since that one's actually heavy metal but I personally think of it as entry level glam. @zakalwe Yeah, I get what you mean. It's somewhat like me and modern music then. Sometimes it doesn't suck but god damn I don't want to listen to that all the time.

Titan 05.09.13	I love glam and know when I hear it dude. STTG is without question heavier and less glammy than their s/t, but it still has many traces and elements of what made glam rock popular.

I can hear hints of their glam sound in A Darkened Room and Wasting Time but overall there is very little glam on that album. In fact the band were pretty open about the fact that they were distancing themselves completely from the glam movement.
