08.27.15 | 3 weeks is tooo long for champions league action! Hoping all 5 Spanish teams go through |
Artuma
08.27.15 | kinda disappointing draw |
zakalwe
08.27.15 | Fuck Man Utd |
Artuma
08.27.15 | fuck man city even more, i seriously hope sevilla will kick those guys' asses hard |
rocketsfall
08.27.15 | hell yes easy group for chelsea |
zakalwe
08.27.15 | I have a soft spot for the City fans but yeah the club is just a soulless version of what it used to be |
Pangea
08.27.15 | Unlucky draw for PSV. I'm afraid that it will be the last place for us |
OmairSh
08.27.15 | Obviously most Man City fans were born like 3 years ago |
OmairSh
08.27.15 | i seriously hope sevilla will kick those guys' asses hard [2]
I hate all British teams :-) |
Pangea
08.27.15 | My predictions are pretty much the same as yours |
Pangea
08.27.15 | Gotta love group d |
zakalwe
08.27.15 | Ha. Good one omair dude. The 'real' city fans en masse are absolute gents, salt of the earth and a quality laugh. |
OmairSh
08.27.15 | Zak yeah I guess a lot of "true" fans of clubs are gentlemen (well except clubs like West Ham :P). These new hormonal teenage trolls are ruining the fan bases of pretty much every team |
PappyMason
08.27.15 | Porto over Chelsea as group winners?
I don't really get the hate for Man City fans tbh. You should spend time with Liverpool fans... |
zakalwe
08.27.15 | As a spurs fan I have to put my hands up and say we are a massive bunch of wankers. Spot on about West Ham. In fact most London clubs have total arsehole fans. I have to take me hat off to the scum, their lot are generally a good bunch. |
OmairSh
08.27.15 | @Pappy: I wish haha :P. And the comments on dailymail trolling Liverpool are pretty funny
@zak: I think the arrogance is what pisses me off the most about any fanbase. And you get obnoxious fans like that everywhere. But I guess the British fans are more "passionate" :P |
InfamousGrouse
08.27.15 | I think City and Sevilla will advance from group D. Shoot me. |
danielcardoso
08.27.15 | I hope Sevilla passes. As a Porto fan, I'm afraid the group's a tough one, but I'm confident we can pass in second. |
InfamousGrouse
08.27.15 | No question. Tel-Aviv are the group's whipping boys and realistically Kiev shouldn't pose too many problems. Tell you what, come away with a good result at home and you might even finish ahead of Chelsea, who have looked shaky recently. |
danielcardoso
08.27.15 | Tel-Aviv is obviously shit but a trip to Israel can always pose some trouble. Same goes for D. Kiev, I think. |
PappyMason
08.27.15 | Yeah, I like Sevilla. Wishing them well.
Obviously being British I want City to finish first. Also, David Silva is an unbelievable player in that team. I could watch him all day... |
OmairSh
08.27.15 | Yup, he's definitely one of my favourite players in the EPL, if not my favourite.
Sevilla are a striker away from going deep in the competition imo, but their midfield is stacked as hell |
PappyMason
08.27.15 | I heard/read in quite a few interviews/articles that they don't really rate him that much in Spain, which is crazy. Although the talent they have in their national team is insane. |
InfamousGrouse
08.27.15 | Gonna try my hardest to score PSG-RMA tickets. I'm moving to France soon but closer geographically to Belgium so I was really hoping that Gent would get a European giant. I swear I'm never lucky. |
danielcardoso
08.27.15 | Bacca leaving Sevilla left them a bit shorthanded. |
InfamousGrouse
08.27.15 | Llorente has never been prolific but he's a handful. |
MercuryToHell
08.27.15 | Chelsea getting an easy draw? Never... |
OmairSh
08.28.15 | @daniel: Yeah Bacca leaving will impact them a bit. Gameiro has mainly been a sub at Sevilla, so I'm not sure if Emery will trust him to start most games. I hope Immobile can regain his form, since he has loads of talent and ability.
@Infamous: Getting Llorente was an odd move, and I think a mistake. Llorente as back up would have been fine if you had a consistent goal scorer already, but at this point Monchi should have pushed for a more prolific striker. |
danielcardoso
08.28.15 | Gameiro hasn't been lucky enough in Sevilla though, because he's a talented player and has plenty of potential. |
Artuma
08.28.15 | sevilla proved in the supercup final that they are a quality team and they have an almost completely new team this season so they will probably improve as the season goes on |
anarchistfish
08.28.15 | ofc we got bayern again |
anarchistfish
08.28.15 | Chelsea getting an easy draw? Never... [2] |
OmairSh
08.28.15 | Well at least you can't get knocked out by them in the next round :D |
zakalwe
08.28.15 | Why does the comp have to be so bloody long? Let it be a champions league. Countless group games and knockouts gets right on me tits. |
Psynuts
08.28.15 | why does arsenal always get bayern munich? As a gooner i'm a bit salty, even though those matches have been pretty great in the past. |
OmairSh
08.28.15 | @zak: BECAUSE WE WANT MORE MATCHES!! Plus I think you can value the trophy more when you go through more teams |
Psynuts
08.28.15 | and more matches generate more income, in the end it's all about the money |
OmairSh
08.28.15 | Mainly that |
InfamousGrouse
08.29.15 | Admittedly the competition has been dull at this stage in the past but the overhaul has made things marginally more intriguing. I mean, some of the group stage matches now could've been quarter or semis last year. |
PappyMason
08.29.15 | Plus, wasn't the competition longer before? Before, didn't teams play two group stages, before entering the knockout stages? |
PappyMason
08.29.15 | 'ofc we got bayern again'
Well, all Gunners were ecstatic last year when they found out that they drew Monaco in the knockout stages. "Yeah, easy draw. Easy, easy".
You still got shafted... |
Shiranui
08.29.15 | I was looking to see Dortmund in this for a sec, well. |
JamieTwort
08.29.15 | Sevilla are looking a strong team even without Bacca. They've got several options in terms of strikers with Immobile and Gameiro as well as Llorente and with Konoplyanka playing a supporting role they're capable of causing trouble against any team. |
danielcardoso
08.29.15 | Dortmund is in Europa League, man. |
Shiranui
08.29.15 | I know, heh. |
JamieTwort
08.29.15 | "Why does the comp have to be so bloody long? Let it be a champions league. Countless group games and knockouts gets right on me tits."
It's fine as it is. Part of its appeal is when 'lesser' teams give the 'champions' a run for their money. |
danielcardoso
08.29.15 | Shir, damn sorry :] Jamie has a point, that's the main excitement of the competition for me, for example when Porto beat Bayern 3-1 last year it was amazing, not only because I'm a Porto fan but because nobody expected it to happen. Of course what happened later is irrelevant :] |
anarchistfish
08.29.15 | "You still got shafted..."
monaco's a good team and I didn't understand everyone's overconfidence |
InfamousGrouse
08.29.15 | "for example when Porto beat Bayern 3-1 last year it was amazing, not only because I'm a Porto fan but because nobody expected it to happen."
Expect the unexpected with Dante and Xabi "liability" Alonso on the field. |
anarchistfish
08.29.15 | bayern playing without CBs today wtf? |
OmairSh
08.29.15 | Wtf no CBs in a back 3, and they're still winning? Oh ffs |
danielcardoso
08.29.15 | Dante is obviously shit but I always considered Xabi Alonso a class midfielder. |
InfamousGrouse
08.29.15 | He certainly was but his game is riddled with high profile mistakes, most likely because of age. |
OmairSh
12.09.15 | Well things didn't go totally as planned but I'm so happy to see United out. Now Arsenal and Chelsea will hopefully follow suit |
Deez
12.09.15 | Nothing better than seeing Utd waddle out with their tails between their legs. Chelsea next please
|
adr
12.09.15 | fuck off and your teams
fuck lvg too, sack the fucking turtle damnit |
danielcardoso
12.09.15 | So pumped for today's Porto game. As a big fan since forever, I can tell I hadn't been that hyped for a single game since last year's 1st leg against Bayern. |
Sinternet
12.09.15 | lol United were shite
pls Chelsea don't fuck up again |
PappyMason
12.09.15 | Casillas is dodgy af though. I'm a Chelsea fan so I hope we do one over you.
Not really holding my breath though - we were so poor when we played you earlier on in the group. C'mon.
|
Deez
12.09.15 | Theres no reason to fear chelsea at the moment, they should be confident of going there and getting something |
Zig
12.09.15 | Chelsea vs FC Porto it's the main match for today. '0-1'
Vamos Porto! |
PappyMason
12.09.15 | We deserved that.
Brahimi looks like a real player though. |
OmairSh
12.09.15 | Well that didn't work out as planned |
Zig
12.09.15 | Sad, but fair.
Porto played for the draw (again) and lost (again).
Europa League will be more interesting this year. |
Sinternet
12.09.15 | Damn Arsenal got through
But at least Chelsea played well, Costa back to his cuntiness as usual but whatever |
Spacesh1p
12.09.15 | Ah come on we deserved to go through. God knows how we managed to lose to those two crap sides earlier in group play.
I think most people would rather us go through so we can fail in the round of 16 anyway, right? |
Spacesh1p
12.09.15 | Also "we" I know. |
PappyMason
12.09.15 | "God knows how we managed to lose to those two crap sides earlier in group play."
Typical Arsenal though wasn't it. Now to concede two away goals in the first leg of the knockout, to give yourselves too much to do in the second leg...
But in all seriousness, good luck to you. |
Spacesh1p
12.10.15 | Haha thanks. Honestly it hasn't been all that typical over the past couple seasons. We usually do a solid job of dispatching mediocre teams. In Europe the past two seasons we've had our share or clangers but on the whole, particularly in the league, we are good about beating sides we are meant to beat. |
Sinternet
12.10.15 | at least however bad Chelsea are we can still beat Arsenal that's all I'm saying |
Spacesh1p
12.10.15 | Don't even get me started on that match, Sin. Costa is the biggest cunt in the sport, and there's a few of them. I mean, Gabriel took the bait, I'll give you that but that kind of "gamesmanship" of trying to get the opponent sent off is far worse than diving, for me. At least diving is an exaggeration of what is usually legitimate play (if you consider fouling a legitimate part of football which I think it is). Costa isn't the only one, I mean, did you see Raul Garcia last weekend too? Shit like that is terrible.
It was a close match up to that point and that ruined it. You did win, true, but man I would need a shower after that if I were you! Haha. |
Nocturnalize
12.10.15 | "Costa is the biggest cunt in the sport, and there's a few of them."
Most unlikeable player I've ever seen, most punchable face I've ever seen the dude is just a straight up dirty piece of shit |
Spacesh1p
12.10.15 | I used to at least respect that fact that he was good at what he did, but now he's shit, so I don't have to do that. I try to appreciate competitiveness like that, but he's just the dirtiest player ever and that's even on a side with Ramires in to too.. |
Nocturnalize
12.10.15 | Costa aside who do y'all think takes the cup this year? I'm going with Bayern Munich the team they have now play some of the most dominant football I've ever seen, never gonna count out Barcelona in the tourney but Munich have a certain spark to them this season |
Spacesh1p
12.10.15 | I would agree, Munchen look nearly back to their Jupp era dominance. Powerful and technical football. The biggest difference for me is their depth now with signings like D Costa and Coman is just absurd and Pep/Lewy have figured each other out - he's been deadly this season.
However if Barca stay fit, I would probably edge them as the first to retain the cup. On form they are basically unstoppable.
Real look confused, I don't count them in the mix at all, I also think Ronnie is pretty past it. PSG as a wildcard but their backline looks pretty flimsy against the best sides (and their league is so pathetically weak this year they will probably have Bayern's too easy league syndrome against good teams). Chelsea, nope. City, nope. Arsenal - even as a fan, no way.
Would never count out Atleti either as a dark horse. They look back to the 2012-13 vintage of 1-0 and rock solid defending. Griz is the real deal as well and has hamstrings that aren't made of dental floss like Costa's apparently.
Don't rate Juve this season, probably like most. |
Pangea
12.10.15 | "Unlucky draw for PSV. I'm afraid that it will be the last place for us"
I'm so happy that i was wrong! |
ZippaThaRippa
12.10.15 | Borussia Monchengladbach was especially disappointing considering the streak they were on. |
OmairSh
12.10.15 | Their season started poorly though and they paid for it. Sevilla and Valencia were major disappointments as well |
Artuma
12.10.15 | lyon too |
Keyblade
12.10.15 | any injuries for arsenal? please say yes |
Davil667
12.10.15 | Leverkusen also totally fcked it up yesterday. They had at least 3 major chances to score. |
Artuma
12.10.15 | i feel bad for leverkusen because honestly they deserved the runner-up spot behind barca much more than roma |
Davil667
12.10.15 | Agreed, they put up a tough fight. Would have been glad to see them score the winning goal. |
Artuma
12.10.15 | they battled really well in both matches against barca while roma got their asses kicked real bad in the md 5
ghent is gonna take the cup, i'm calling it now |
Sinternet
12.10.15 | Would be pretty funny
But as for Costa's cuntiness, I guess own team bias but I would still say Suarez was worse, Costa is predictably gonna wind-up opposition but Suarez would do stupid things out of nowhere. Seems to have resolved that now, but could happen again. |
JamieTwort
12.10.15 | "Leverkusen also totally fcked it up yesterday. They had at least 3 major chances to score."
I bet they couldn't have been happier when they saw how weak Barca's line-up was but one moment of combined quality from 2 of Barca's 3 first team players did the damage. Leverkusen still should have won with all those chances in the second half. |
RadicalEd
12.10.15 | tbh Barca really tried everything they could to help Leverkusen become 2nd. If you can't win against a team that inexperienced, you can't really complain. (Not that guys like Samper, Munir or Sandro are not super talented, but rotating that much young players in with only messi and rakitic to hold the fort should really result in a loss in the Champions League) |
Deez
12.10.15 | As much as a cunt Suarez is Costa is another level. Spitting in gloves and flicking in on people? The acting the hard man then diving they are probably about level. But Suarez is also ten times the player costa is and tends to have the ut outbust with costa its every week. Utter cunt.
Barca will win it again. You need a lot of things to go your way to beat barca, few players injured or having off days for two games. I think Barca would put munich to bed again. |
Sinternet
12.10.15 | Yeah good point. Tbh he wasnt like this for the first six months - sure he was a bit of an arsehole but he didnt do half the dodgy cunty shit he does now and he actually played very well. Somewhen he's gonna have to wake up and realise not even his own club appreciate it and he has an awful reputation and he'll care. Despite that from what I've heard he's a great guy off the pitch and that he says he gets carried away and impatient on the pitch but still man he got to learn |
OmairSh
12.10.15 | There's still a long way to go and injuries could play a big part as well as the usual dip in the firm of players.
I hated the fact that Barca went through with the Suarez deal especially after the WC incident. I know he's not going to be able to control his impulses, and he showed that against Valencia last weekend |
JamieTwort
12.10.15 | Suarez joining Barca turned out to be a beautiful thing. The chemistry between that front 3 is unlike anything I've ever seen, at least with regards to world class players who you would think would all have huge egos. |
anarchistfish
12.10.15 | Yeah, I never really felt like Suarez was that much of a dick. He's just impulsive. Costa is so much more calculated and manipulative. To me that's worse than biting (which tends to disgust people on a more visceral level). |
OmairSh
12.10.15 | Costa seems to have gotten worse after leaving atletico. Biting is just so odd in this context, but spitting ain't no better |
Deez
12.10.15 | Barca signing Suarez was the best move they have made in Years. Its very difficult to keep that top 3 quiet for 2 legs. one of them maybe, 2 at a push. But all 3 is very difficult. As jamie said their movement and chemistry is fantastic to watch three all time greats by the time they finished their careers |
BigTuna
12.10.15 | Barca will win, though I'm interested to see how the EPL teams fair in the knockout rounds. They get a lot of shit, but if City or Arsenal play their best football at full health, you never know.
How ironic would it be if Chelsea made a deep Champions League run in the midst of their horrible domestic season. |
Tunaboy45
12.10.15 | Really didn't want Chelsea to win, Mourinho is a prick |
