10 years under the influence of sput
Minus turned ten last month and I forgot! |
1 | | Black Sabbath Master of Reality
I had an account prior to this, but I've neglected it from the cringe of 9th grade me. I do remember when I made this new account that I binged mikesn's reviews of all the Black Sabbath albums |
2 | | Iron Maiden The Number of the Beast
And also these ones |
3 | | Godsmack IV
And let us never forget me finding this website due to the 5/5 star rating found on Wikipedia accredited to Sputnikmusic.com, the premier source for music reviews and music news, covering the best albums in indie, metal, and punk. |
4 | | Fear Factory Obsolete
Anyway that old account is obsolete. |
5 | | Dead Kennedys Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables
So let me first take a look at my first ever list on this site, made when I was 16 (made by this stud https://imgur.com/a/hoDPRaC) "My Favorite Punk/hardcore Bands"
First was DK, which yeah, that still probably tracks still. They're amazing and introduced me to the genre. |
6 | | Misfits Static Age
This also still tracks, amazing collection of tracks, 5/5 can't argue with myself here. |
7 | | Dropkick Murphys The Meanest of Times
Here's where my shit taste really takes hold. Still have a soft spot for Dropkick, but around this time I was absolutely spellbound by the Nickelback of Boston. What can I say, I was.... and am... a sucker for banjos with aggressive music. |
8 | | Hatebreed Hatebreed
Oh yeah, I fucking loved Hatebreed as well, based pick of course. No flaws in this band at all, poetry in music, technicality on full display. The best hardcore punk band of all time no doubt. |
9 | | The Suicide Machines Destruction By Definition
Another timeless band from the most timeless genre, ska punk. But to be fair this album still owns, and this band still fuckin rules. |
10 | | Rise Against The Sufferer and the Witness
I was 16. This is baby's first punk band, now please don't ask me if I still jam Rise Against because I'm 27 and it is just sorta sad at this point. |
11 | | Minor Threat Minor Threat
I'm almost certain I edited this list a few times, cause I clearly remember Agnostic Front here. I think this was probably one of the bands I added to feel cooler. |
12 | | A Wilhelm Scream Career Suicide
This was my introduction to modern punk. Came from a metal/thrash background so hearing the blistering solos this band throws into their songs really spoke to me. The middle two albums are still modern classics to be honest |
13 | | Streetlight Manifesto Everything Goes Numb
I will never take any streetlight slander, the best ska band of all time, fuck it.
I remember walking the halls after class and someone painted the album cover for this and I always wanted to meet them but never did, in hindsight it was probably some band kid. |
14 | | Black Flag Damaged
Baby's first hardcore band. |
15 | | Godspeed You! Black Emperor F♯ A♯ ∞
Now here's just a bunch of albums that I got into because of sputnikmusic.com, the premier source for music reviews and music news, covering the best albums in indie, metal, and punk.
Thanks for making me less cringe, which is not saying too much because I'm still using a music forum website. |
16 | | Brand New The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me
And fuck you for making this my former second favorite album |
17 | | Johnny Foreigner Waited Up 'til It Was Light
I'd shoutout some peeps, but a bunch of these albums I have found through friends on this site, I think you'd know who you are by the albums. |
18 | | Massive Attack Heligoland |
19 | | Robbie Basho Visions of The Country |
20 | | Preoccupations Viet Cong
and of course for papa's incredible post-punk lists which gave me content for years. |
21 | | Ornette Coleman The Shape of Jazz to Come |
22 | | Moon Kissed I’d Like to Tell You Something Important |
23 | | The Gaslight Anthem The '59 Sound |
24 | | One Inch Punch/Mid Youth Crisis Ignorant Bliss |
25 | | Kendrick Lamar good kid, m.A.A.d city |

38 | | Stuck Out Here Until We're Each Someone Else
Knew this band from my bandcamp days, but I remember someone bringing this album to my attention when the band was a distant memory, and i adore it |
