Black Panther was fucking dope

it's the snowpocalypse here today in Vancouver and i don't want to do real work so i'm making a shitty list instead. Black Panther was sick. discuss
1Ludwig Göransson
Black Panther (Original Score)

film score/classical/trap rap (yeah seriously) // this score is getting really fucking slept on, it's some seriously fantastic stuff. pretty much all of the cues/themes (idk the difference) are great, but Killmonger's is particularly awesome.

HIGHLIGHTS: Wakanda, Waterfall Fight, Ancestral Plane, Burn It All, Casino Brawl, The Great Mound Battle, Killmonger
2Soundtrack (Film)
Black Panther

hip-hop/pop/R&B // good album. not amazing, but i didn't come into this expecting a masterpiece and there are enough bangers for this to be worth the time.

HIGHLIGHTS: Black Panther, X, King's Dead (Future's verse is so absurd that I've actually come all the way around to kind of enjoying it), Opps
3Erdve
Vaitojimas

post-metal // yeah this is sick. always nice to see a band managing to write good post-metal, like, a decade after the genre arguably started declining.
4Big K.R.I.T.
4eva Is a Mighty Long Time

hip-hop // if i'd discovered this earlier this would've been near the top of my 2017 best of list. thank you based fantano

HIGHLIGHTS: Big Bank; Keep the Devil Off; Drinking Sessions; The Light; Subenstein IV
5Pianos Become the Teeth
Wait for Love

indie rock/emo/dadcore // it's obviously way below their first two but I actually enjoy this a lot more than their last album, is there something wrong with me?
6The Atlas Moth
Coma Noir

sludge metal // I never got around to The Old Believer, but I'm enjoying this a whole lot and would probably rank it a bit higher than the debut. catchy, heavy, atmospheric. good shit.
7The Oh Hellos
Eurus

indie folk // these guys dropping 4 EPs in 2018 (ok, I guess the first was late 2017) might be the nicest surprise I've gotten in quite a while
8Brian Fallon
Sleepwalkers

heartland rock/folk // this slap
9Atena
Possessed

metalcore/deathcore/djent // I'm not usually one for this kind of thing, but this is honestly pretty fucking entertaining. sort of a symphonic brocore Vildhjarta

HIGHLIGHTS: Oil Rigs, Oil Rigs, Oil Rigs, Confessional, Oil Rigs
10Sampha
Process

R&B // how in the fuck did I miss this? this album is incredible.

HIGHLIGHTS: Plastic 100°C, Blood on Me, (No One Knows Me) Like the Piano, Reverse Faults
