| Headphones? + Digs
I'm getting new headphones for outside use (buses, malls etc), so I'm looking for noice-cancelling one's. Budget is around 150?. Do you have any recs for that criteria? First list, it's about time heh. List is digs/stuff I have something to say about/check or ur pleb etc. | 1 | | Antonin Dvorak Symphony No. 9 in E minor, Op. 95, B. 178
My favorite symphony at the moment, amazing melodies/harmonies | 2 | | Arvo Part Tabula Rasa
The first movement of Tabula Rasa is incredible | 3 | | Autechre Gantz Graf
The t/t is easily a top 3 AE track for me, slaps | 4 | | The Beatles Abbey Road
yea | 5 | | Death Grips The Money Store
Super-enjoyable | 6 | | Flying Lotus Cosmogramma
Hadn't had listened to this almost at all since like 2011. Not until the past few weeks, crazy good stuff | 7 | | Giacinto Scelsi Natura Renovatur
Fits the winter mood ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ | 8 | | Godspeed You! Black Emperor F#A# (Infinity)
No wasted notes here, one of my favorite albums. The atmosphere is untouchable | 9 | | Gospel The Moon Is a Dead World
This grew so hard on me. Golden Dawn is like the best song ever and Yr Electric Surge is Sweet is.. sweet to play on guitar, just finished learning it today | 10 | | Gridlink Longhena
I love the beginning of this. It gets a bit samey after a while but still one of the better albums I've heard from this year. | 11 | | Have a Nice Life Deathconsciousness
sum gud stuff | 12 | | Herbie Hancock Head Hunters
Chill and groovey jazz, at times it gets a little bit more intese. Easily approachable for the genre too | 13 | | Igor Stravinsky Le Sacre du printemps
Been loving this as of late. The rhythms and harmonies are batshit insane, and it's at times quite beautiful too. | 14 | | Luciano Cilio Dialoghi del presente
The first track is awe-inspiring for me | 15 | | Ludwig van Beethoven The Late String Quartets (Alban Berg Quartett)
Haven't heard all the quartets yet, but the one's I've heard offered some of the best music I've ever heard yet | 16 | | The Mars Volta Frances The Mute
I have a feeling this album shouldn't work. It has so many bad ideas, so many things just thrown into it for no good reason whatsoever. But it has so much cool stuff going on for the same exact reason, there's always something interesting happening, so it never gets boring or stale.. I guess that's why it works, at least for me | 17 | | The Microphones The Glow Pt. 2
This has been growing on me, at first this didn't have an impact. Hope it keeps growing | 18 | | Olivier Messiaen Quatuor pour la fin du temps, I/22
One of my favorite records lately, heart-wrenching stuff that's original and creative | 19 | | Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here
Best lbum | 20 | | Sigur Ros ( )
Never understood the love for this, until I listened to this again few weeks back. The first track is amazing | 21 | | Skrillex Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites
c'mon, the chorus of "Rock n Roll" is pretty groovy | 22 | | Sonic Youth Daydream Nation
..fuk | 23 | | Talk Talk Spirit of Eden
best | 24 | | The War on Drugs Lost in the Dream
Love the sound of this album, great stuff yo | |

12.28.14 | sup? Addind descriptions, music recs are also much appreciated | tempest--
12.28.14 | maybe its just me but I wouldn't want noise cancelling headphones for outside use... you know how much hearing comes in handy when you're out and about? like crossing roads and listening for traffic and stuff
but its up to you in the end :-] | grish
12.28.14 | my current headphones for outside use are sennheiser amperiors. i found a new pair for under 200$ on ebay. they are on-ear, which works for me and people who have tried mine say they're more comfortable/not as bad as they expected from on-ear headphones. great sound too, for a closed pair. | SaneTBP
12.28.14 | Good point tempest but I like to hear at least MOST of the details in the music that I listen to, and with noise cancelling cans I could hear that stuff with much less volume.. | tempest--
12.28.14 | is having great quality music a priority when you're out and about, probably running errands or going to school/work/whatever really that important? i mean, you're probably listening to music on some ipod or other mp3 player with some basic sound card anyway, i just don't think it's really worth it to spend up to $200 on some headphones which won't really be utilised properly. i'm all for getting some quality phones for when you're at home in a quiet controlled environment, but i think it would be silly to get an expensive pair, especially when they're going to be more prone to getting damaged or stolen or lost or whatever | SaneTBP
12.28.14 | Yeah I thought that I'm probably going to buy Sennheiser's or AKG's headphones but I'll keep looking, those look pretty neat though.
The main thing is good soundstage and a balanced bass/middle/treble department I guess, not that much into headphones so can't say much more. I already own Sennheiser HD 598's and as great as those are, it's still a pain to listen to with open-ended headphones in a noisy environment.. | SaneTBP
12.28.14 | Fair enough. I anyways put the limit a little bit too high originally, it's really more around 70-150$ zone really, but that might change depending on how good headphones I'll find for the prices. Changed that for the description. Didn't change my mind about the need for headphones though, since I spent a lot of time in buses and I'd love to listen to some music meanwhile. | Keyblade
12.28.14 | If you're using it only on trains and buses etc, then noise cancelling should be a priority in my opinion. It gets pretty loud on public transport, and for the sake of your ears you don't want to be turning up your music to drown out all the ambient noise. Noise induced hearing loss is a serious issue, especially when you're pumping out 90 dB+ every day on your commutes. That shit accumulates yo | DoctorDoom
12.28.14 | I bought a pair of DNA's originally priced at 200 + for only 130 via Amazon.com. It was a great deal and they've been a quality purchase. | Ryus
12.28.14 | sweet list brah
| SaneTBP
12.28.14 | @Doctor those DNA's seem to be quality stuff, never heard of the brand before. Cheers!
thanks Ryus!
@key indeed, I actually have a small tinnitus (which I got when I had an ear infection). Mine isn't that harsh, so it doesn't really affect my life that much, but it still sucks. Agreed with every point you said.. :p | DoctorDoom
12.28.14 | Yeah I enjoy them, good luck in your search! | Let
12.28.14 | I'd suggest just getting in-ears for outside use, and tempest is spot on. Noise cancelling headphones always compromise sound quality, and have some of the worst in their price range. In-ears should give you all the isolation you need, and of course they're much less cumbersome. These shures are one of the best around their price range, and are totally within your budget http://www.amazon.com/Shure-SE215-K-Isolating-Earphones-MicroDriver/dp/B004PNZFZ8 | grish
12.28.14 | ah, nice that you own the hd 598s. i got those at the same time as the amperiors. such great soundstage/balance/etc. with those | grish
12.29.14 | Oh, sennheiser momentums too. can be a bit uncomfortable when you're not used to them or wear them for long periods, and probably outside of your price range unless you get a deal. great sound though. not bad at stopping outside noise, i can't compare anymore but the amperiors might be a bit better at that | SaneTBP
12.29.14 | Hmm, I always thought that in-ears aren't as good sound quality wise as on-ears. I guess that's a wrong assumption? Gotta read more about in-ears anyways.
Yeah momentums are pretty good but they don't block the outisde noise as well as I'd like them to so idk.. :p | Hyperion1001
12.29.14 | what let said [2] | Havey
