Eros|Anteros
18.30; Oathbreaker
The first band to play was Oathreaker, this is the second time I saw Caro and co and, like last time, they tore the place apart. They went for a more atmospheric approach this time, especially with the lightshow (at certain point Caro was singing a poem in total darkness with only an ambient backround, fucking eerie that wasà . All songs were woven together by ambient pieces which gave there performance a very ceremony-like feeling to it (the band themselves didn't say a word at all, not when they started, nor when they ended their set). They mostly played stuff from Eros/Anteros, except for their final song Glimpse Of The Unseen. Very possible the best live performance I saw up until now (yes even better than the Grown Below show I mention a lot). 5/5 | | 2 |  | Young and in the Way
When Life Comes to Death
19.20; Young And In They Way
Next on the list (and one of the bands I was dying to see) was YAITW, and they basically went further where Oathbreaker left off. Only helluva lot more chaotic and with helluva lot more attitude. Sadly the first part of their show suffered from a drum that was way to loud and that really made the guitars hard to hear (and YAITW is a VERY guitar based band). This luckily was fixed soon. To my surprise the crowd was pretty static during their performance (sadly, because they were really good), and they didn't play their most unique songs (I was really hoping for "Self Inflicted"). Rust
Next up was Harm's Way, also a band I saw before. And immediate change in tone this band was, from Blackened Hardcore/crust we went to straight up tough-guy hardcore. From frantic lightshows we went to a more generic/boring lightshow. This band was also the first that really started to speak to the crowd (and the first to really get the crowd going with pitts and stuff). A very energetic and fun performance, not really anything bad to say about it, except that it was generic compared to the bands that came before. 3.5/5 | | 4 |  | Trap Them

And that's my first experience with Trap Them. VERY SOLID musical performance, very cool visual performance from the vocalist, get interaction with the crowd. Sadly it was all ruined by the fact this guy sucked and couldn't scream one bit. Really sad, because instrumentally this was very good. 2.5/5 | | 5 |  | Converge
All We Love We Leave Behind
The Band I came for, and DAMN. I mentioned earlier Oathbreaker took my spot of "Best live performance", well they lost it already, to the gods of metalcore themselves.
Their show started with Ballou coming on stage and just doing some crazy shit for about 5 minutes, with the spotlight aimed at him. Afterwards the rest of the band joined and they introduced themselves (as if ANYONE there didn't knew 'em). And what followed was a 2 hour musical orgasm with Bannon and co giving everything they got.
Pretty insane setlist too, I was kinda expecting to mainly hear songs from their last album, but was pleasantly surprised to mainly hear Axe To Fall. Their setlist went as followed;
Eagles Become Vultures, Dark Horse, Aimless Arrows, You Fail Me, Trespasses, All We Love We leave Behind, Reap What You Sow, Wetched World, Worms Will Feed/Rats Will Feast, Axe To Fall, Concubine and JANE DOE IN ITS ENTIRETY.(and many other songs, I forgot the first 4 songs they played). | |
