Why Music Is So Important To Me

The past few days have sucked hard, but, as per usual, music is helping me keep my shit together. rList is a combination of albums I love, and recent digs, along with a description of something or other.
1St. Vincent
Strange Mercy

Music is always there for me. I've been losing a lot of friends lately, and I'm not totally sure why at this point. But no matter what happens, no matter what mood I'm in, I can always find music that will keep me calm.
2Brand New
The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me

Music is a central part of my life. Even when I'm not listening, I invariably have a song stuck in my head, and it helps get me through whatever it is I'm doing at the time. It keeps me entertained.
3Death Cab for Cutie
Transatlanticism

I have a broad taste, maybe not compared to some of the users on here, but compared to everyone else around me, it's usually broadest. It gives me something to talk about with people since I lead a rather uninteresting life. If only more people shared my music preferences.
4St. Vincent
Actor

When life gets bland, I always have some musical release and/or concert to look forward to. It's one of those "sure, this shit is terrible now, but soon..." things. Kind of like how I missed out on fun. tickets, but I still have St. Vincent to look forward to.
5Between the Buried and Me
Colors

It's something that sets me apart from most people. Almost everybody has a hobby; working on cars, collecting stamps or some shit. Mine is purely music. I feel like people always think I'm weird because I listen to so much and spend so much time on it, but fuck you, you have your things and I have mine. To each their own.
6Every Time I Die
Ex Lives

I like to try new things, and in the musical world, you will never run out of new things to try.
7Meshuggah
Koloss

Concerts are my favorite things in the world. Hands down. When I go to one, it's one of the few times I feel like I fit in. Screaming out the lyrics to one of my favorite songs with hundreds of other people, all of us moving together as if one being, it's exhilarating. If I could go to one every single day, I would always be a happy person.
8Senses Fail
Still Searching

There is always a debate to be had about music. Nobody has exactly the same taste. When two people can talk about what they like/don't like in a clam manner, it can be an enjoyable discussion. Usually though, it turns into "FUCK YOU YOUR TASTE IS SHIT MINE IS BEST LOLOLOL"
9fun.
Aim and Ignite

I've always wanted to learn how to play music, but I've never had the resources. Damnit, when I graduate college, I'm gonna learn every fucking instrument I can. Even if I suck, it'll still be fun.
10The Men
Open Your Heart

It keeps me grounded to reality. Sometimes, I think I'm going crazy, or I think that I'm the only person that thinks the things I do. Then I'll hear a song that expresses those very things I'm thinking, and I always feel better.
11 Brokencyde
I'm Not a Fan, but the Kids Love It!

Sometimes, you can get quite the laugh out of some really shitty, terrible music, and get an ego boost because you know that you'll never suck as much as these guys do.
12The Contortionist
Exoplanet

Well, I'm running out of reasons already. Probably could have split some of these others up.
13Bjork
Biophilia

How about you guys out there, anything to add to this?
14At the Drive-In
Relationship of Command

I'll probably get called a faggot for this list.
15Megadeth
Rust In Peace

A classic that I still need to listen to
16St. Vincent
Marry Me

Has anybody seen this woman perform live? If so, is she good?
17 Black Veil Brides
I don't know any of their album names and I don't give enough fucks to look one up

I usually steer clear of anybody that likes this group.
18The Dear Hunter
The Color Spectrum (Complete Collection)

Met a guy yesterday that likes this. He pretty much made my entire day. It's rare that I meet someone on campus that has good taste.
19Converge
Jane Doe

I feel like if I ever get dumped again, I'll put this album on repeat for a month.
20Sharks
No Gods

This will be a good summertime album
21The Jezabels
Prisoner

Anybody that hasn't already heard this and likes indie popish stuff, listen to it. It's fucking fantastic.
22Cynic
Focus

Dem basslines.
23Animal Collective
Strawberry Jam

I fucking hated this when I first listened to it. But I listened to it a couple more times and it keeps growing on me.
24Tool
Lateralus

Are they ever going to release another goddamn album?
25Finch
Say Hello to Sunshine

Yeah, I'm completely out of things to say.
