Notrap's Week Jams

My jams of the week:
1Meshuggah
Koloss

4/5. One of the most enjoyable 2012 releases so far. Killer album.
2Napalm Death
Utilitarian

4/5. Another excellent album from one of the most consistent extreme metal acts around.
3Overkill
The Electric Age

4/5. Excellent piece of thrash with that old school vibe written all over it.
4Celtic Frost
Monotheist

4/5. Interesting, unconventional and unrealistic music. Excellent album.
5Neal Morse
Sola Scriptura

4/5. Very enjoyable and diverse songwriting. Despite the subjective religious themes "Sola Scriptura" is a must-have for any progressive rock fans out there.
6Roger Waters
The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking

4/5. The natural musical sequel to The Wall and The Final Cut. Still remains my favourite Waters solo album.
7Dream Theater
A Change of Seasons

4/5. A Change of Seasons is one of the best songs this band ever released. The live covers are cool but dispensable.
8Blind Guardian
Imaginations from the Other Side

4/5. One of their best albums. "Bright Eyes" still remains my favourite BG song.
9Exodus
Tempo of the Damned

4/5. Exodus best album since Fabulous Disaster.
10Raven
Wiped Out

4/5. A must have for all NWOBHM out there.
11Unisonic
Unisonic

3.5/5. Interesting album with enjoyable 80's retro songs. Great to see Hansen and Kiske together again.
12Anathema
We're Here Because We're Here

3.5/5. Good and ambitious music however they still miss that final step into greatness.
13Barren Earth
The Devil's Resolve

3/5. Good but also predictable songwriting. That kind of album that grew off quickly.
14Dream Theater
Falling Into Infinity

3.5/5. Despite the record label involvement to make Falling Into Infinity a more commercial release, this album remains an enjoyable listening experience. "You Not Me" is the most dispensable song here.
15Savatage
Dead Winter Dead

3/5. Some good songs like "I Am", "Mozart and Madness" or "Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24)" however I can't find a truly inspiring moment here.
16Sodom
Tapping the Vein

3/5. Decent album but still far from their golden era.
17Def Leppard
Slang

3/5. Leppard's attempt to reach the new 90's audiences. Some interesting moments however Slang's musical direction remains
unfocused.
18Metal Church
This Present Wasteland

2.5/5. Let's say this isn't Vanderhoof's most inspired effort...
19Behemoth
Grom

2/5. Their best work is yet to come.
20Exodus
Impact Is Imminent

2/5. A huge step back. Their worst album to date, in my opinion.
