Notrap's 2013 So Far

I didn't have much free time lately, pretty sure I've been missing some good stuff, nevertheless these are my favourite 2013 releases so far. No particular order.
1Katalepsy
Autopsychosis

These Russian dudes know how to play it right. Blistering release.
2Immolation
Kingdom of Conspiracy

The New York death metal veterans have unleashed one of the most ferocious albums of the year. A must-have.
3Suffocation
Pinnacle of Bedlam

More focused and less experimental than the previous release, "Pinnacle of Bedlam" has all the elements you'd expect to hear on a
Suffocation album.
4Daft Punk
Random Access Memories

The album's title perfectly capture what the music sounds like. Pretty interesting release.
5Audrey Horne
Youngblood

Pretty fun album that pays tribute to the 70's and 80's with some post-grunge flavours. Highly recommended for all hard rock fans out there.
6Satan
Life Sentence

Pretty enjoyable NWOBHM revival that certainly deserves 44 minutes of your time. Recommended.
7Ghost B.C.
Infestissumam

The Swedish occult rockers are back and the second strike is even deadlier.
8Helloween
Straight Out of Hell

As expected there's nothing groundbreaking about "Straight Out of Hell", the band is tied within the bounds of the genre they helped
create. Nevertheless the German metal-pumpkins managed to release another solid piece of power metal filled with catchy vocal hooks
and fine songs like "Nabataea", "Burning Sun", "Hold Me In Your Arms", "Church Breaks Down" and specially "Waiting For The Thunder",
album's best track.
9Stratovarius
Nemesis

Pretty enjoyable collection of songs filled with remarkably catchy melodies.
10Enforcer
Death By Fire

Pretty enjoyable '80s revival. HORNS UP!
11Misery Index
Live in Munich

Relentless live. All fans of the band should check this out.
12Wormed
Exodromos

A creative brand of brutality that stretches the boundaries of the genre. Pretty interesting release.
13Queensryche
Queensryche

Enjoyable attempt to recapture the golden years. "A World Without" and "Fallout" are definitely among the best post-Promised Land songs.
14Ade
Spartacus

Interesting ancient Greco-Roman themed modern death metal, featuring George Kollias.
15Oblivion
Called to Rise

Eclectic debut that deserves the attention of the technical death metal community.
16Hate
Solarflesh

Pretty solid Behemoth-based songwriting.
17Fallujah
Nomadic

More melodic and atmospheric than "The Harvest Wombs", Fallujah give us a little taste of what's to come.
18Vicious Rumors
Electric Punishment

Despite its ups and downs, "Electric Punishment" deserves the attention of the power/thrash metal fanbase. Best songs: "I Am the Gun", "Black X
List" and "Thirst for a Kill".
19Deeds of Flesh
Portals to Canaan

In the same vein of ?Of What's To Come?, less brutal and more technical. Some nice sci-fi themed moments.
20Black Sabbath
13

Seeing these guys together again it's really something, but if we look through the emotional glass, "13" feels like a band in autopilot mode trying to
do their best impression of old Sabbath (the soulless drumming and flat production value didn't help either). Still an enjoyable listen nevertheless.
21Amon Amarth
Deceiver Of The Gods

Another pretty competent by the book release that should please genre fans.
22Blood Red Throne
Blood Red Throne

Cool Norwegian death metal.
23Saxon
Sacrifice

Solid release in the vein of their 80's material.
24Hatriot
Heroes of Origin

Nothing new under the sun, but if you're looking for some catchy Bay Area thrash,
look no further. Welcome back Zetro.
25Dark Tranquillity
Construct

Melodic, light & catchy.
