| Bands That I Thought Would Have A New Album By Now
Excluding Brand New cuz why waste the space | 1 | | BATS The Sleep of Reason
Cuz I really need more BATS in my life. I can remember having to evacuate my house during Hurricane Sandy so I spent time at my Grandpa's and I could not stop listening to Wolfwrangler. Title track, Astronomy, and Heat Death are some outstanding tracks but I feel like this album felt far too bloated with a bunch of really good moments throughout the songs but it felt like a process to really get to them (minus the aforementioned and Stem Cells probably). I thought they were working on stuff but who knows how that is going. I'm aware of the singer's side project, Speed of Snakes and that Arroway (?) is really catchy and I honestly think they should probably focus more on catchy ass hooks next time around while still retaining their musical prowess. But I'll be happy with whatever these scientists cook up. | 2 | | Circle Takes the Square Decompositions: Volume Number One
I mean....after a 1, there inevitably has to be a 2...right? I don't even care for this much, As The Roots Undo is better in almost every regard but Way of Ever Branching Paths and North Star, Inverted are some of the best songs I've ever heard. Maybe one day the rest of this will grow on me like Roots did but I'd much rather them just give me something else to be excited about. | 3 | | Moving Mountains Moving Mountains
Deathless was just a tease, and a damn good tease at that, give me more please. This self-titled grew on me immensely so more of this would be fine with me. I honestly can't get super into Pneuma (minus Sol Solis which is one of the best acoustic tracks ever). It's definitely cool but I feel like it's not as exciting as it's cracked up to be. I have an easier time enjoying Waves. But still, I'd rather them just continue this style cuz these songs have tons o' feels. Deathless is a great template to work with for whatever could come next too. | 4 | | Gerard Way Hesitant Alien
Idk, i thought he'd be pumping out music faster as a solo project but I guess not. The good as hell track Pinkish from RSD last year hasn't even been brought to Spotify which makes me sad. Anyway, after listening to this for the first time in forevs, I can confidently say it holds up extremely well. The album has a great sense of variety and even style and I'd be pretty down for him having the same mentality going into LP2. | 5 | | The All-American Rejects Kids in the Street
I love this album much more than I should. This list probably just lost its overall appeal (I mean, if the album before this didn't already do that), but these guys are my not so guilty, guilty pleasure. They released a really lame song around either the end of 2015 or beginning of 2016 so I actually have no idea if I'l be happy with a follow up to this album but the more similar it is to this the better. Anyway, definitely thought it would be out by now | |
