Cygnatti
05.26.13 | yay! another one of these lists! I have noticed that our tastes rarely align though... I'll check anything with 'post punk' on it and probs anything with 'pop' on it but w/o 'j-pop'. maybe stuff with 'punk' on it too. and what's vaporwave? lol

05.26.13 | Check out that Aidan Baker for sure. Jefre's Devotion is easily the best EP released this year so far.
No J-Pop Cyg? (╯︵╰,) Check out the write-up on RYM for V-Wave: http://rateyourmusic.com/genre/vaporwave |
Cygnatti
05.26.13 | vaporwave sounds like something I'd enjoy.
and yeah, I had a many separate phases in my early music life, two of them being k-pop and j-pop. I was so overworn of those genres that I can't stand listening to them anymore. also, about a year ago, I checked a few of my favorite k-pop and j-pop acts' or bands' new material, and most of them had me gagging by the end of a song because it was so awful. also, I have anime buds, and they listen to a bunch of j-pop, and it's just so -_- |

05.26.13 | Can't do K-Pop, basically just a re-hash of shitty american pop music + koreans. J-Pop is on a different level. |

if what I heard was any indicator, it's so worse than american pop music now. j-pop reminds me of 90s singer-songwriter in that they smooth dominant vocals, interesting (because diff language) melodies, cheesy/uplifting instruments, but they tend to also be just as blatantly inoffensive and rather predictable as 90s to early 2000s singer-songerwriter pop. this is all, of course, in my most experiences... |

05.26.13 | Fox have you seen any of their live performances? Their lip singing / ultra-kawaii dance routines are benefited ++++++ by copious amounts of stadium reverb and thousands of hello kitty backpacks.
The only K-Pop I've found remotely interesting is the insanely infectious power-chorus on f(x)'s Electric Shock. A banger. |

05.26.13 | 60 is amazing. Amazing stuff as always MisterTornado |

MisterTornado
05.26.13 | Isn't it? Really wish he would have fleshed it out into an LP, but I'm not going to complain with 20 minutes of perfection. 25 really explores the whole ASMR concept to fine detail, another erstwhile enigma. |

ITsHxCTOASTER
05.26.13 | I have Marble Surf, it's cool from what I've heard but I haven't given it a good listen. Heaven's Gate is good if you haven't heard that one |
MisterTornado
05.26.13 | "new laurel halo is also really good"
I prefer her art pop adventures on Quarantine, especially the lo-fi ambient of her first album Antenna. But still, she's good at straight techno too.
"kodak cameo is so chill
casinowave, well I never..."
Who would'a thought? About to dust off my Dreamcast and pop in some Sonic Adventure to cleanse these tears.
"everyone's creaming their pants over the mirror art for 32 but IT'S BEEN DONE SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE URGH"
Who else did it?
"Listening to 11 right now, fuckin' Hatsune Miku/Vocaloid's everywhere nowadays. Not really feeling the tune tho TBH, a little too sugar-rushy"
It's definitely not for everybody, but far as I'm concerned Livetune utilizes Hatsune far better than anybody else. It's an easy sound to fuck up, but Livetune just makes it work.
"This James Ferraro release is so weird"
Dude goes from lo-fi ambient tapes (Marble Surf), to Ariel Pink'ish retro pop (Night Dolls With Hairspray), to goofy hi-fi computer jingles (Far Side Virtual), to wonky hip hop instrumentals (Sushi), to contemporary R&B (Cold). Strange progression, to say the least. |

He's got alot of other albums out too, check those out. Check out Coyote Clean Up's Frozen Solid, Minilogue's Blomma, Move D & Benjamin Brunn's Songs From the Beehive, and Global Communication's 76:14. |
VlacDrac

treeqt.
05.28.13 | Ok, what I got so far:
Balam Acab - Can't stand it at all.
James Ferraro - More sub-bass wankery and less singing would've been cool. Production wise it's kinda ok in parts but the whole style isn't my thing.
Container - yesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyes. Love it. More pls. |

Pestiferous
05.30.13 | ill def check 19 but it's all this ambient material that's catching my eyes |
treeqt.
05.30.13 | yeah i just googled and downloaded from a couple different pages. i mean it's obviously somehow related to foobar, since it's perfectly playable in itunes. pretty strange though, 250gb of music and never has this happened before. |

"22 rules"
Sounds alot like an exotica version of OPN's Replica, also check out the album he put out before it - Sentimental Favorites.
"Ok, what I got so far:

Did you like Wander / Wonder? I know I'm in a heavy minority here, but I'll take the sound of that EP over the album. Agreed with the Ferraro album, alot of his auto-tune whining is a little grating after awhile, but the atmospheres he creates are so damn alluring. It's definitely a grower. That's exactly how I feel about Container. Raw, stripped down, no bullshit bangers. Check out his first two albums, they're both really great.
"I think this is just the world we live in now... I don't think it's possible to catch every good release anymore."
Yep, unfortunately. I usually end up finding some of the best albums in a year months after the year's ended. Sometimes years. It's exciting though, to think you really haven't even begun to scratch the surface at the end of a year. |
treeqt.
05.30.13 | I have not listened to W/W. Will definitely check the Container LPs though.
I really, really enjoy Gobby at the moment. Moody Coup was interesting but didn't really go anywhere for the most part. Sayonara Ponytail was good. |
MisterTornado
05.30.13 | Gotta keep ma c0nt@ct$ happy. Check out Gobby's Lantern EP, it's really great. I know where your coming from on the Co La, comes off like a big directionless sound collage. Sayonara makes me break out into a kawaii rash.
