- I'm actually somewhat 'emotionally-retarded' myself. It's hard for me to 'feel' for people, it always has. I met a girl in high school, first person I ever felt like I could actually "love" (sounds dumb, I know, but I don't know how else to word it). We went out for like 4 years during high school. We basically planned on going to the same school, getting an apartment, etc., but things started getting bad and we eventually broke up the summer of graduation. I felt almost nothing, I was dealing with bipolar disorder and insomnia, and I became wrapped in my own world for that time.
I wasn't hung up on her, but I'd be lying if I said I don't think about her to this day. She was 'the girl' for a while. And this will sound stupid (because we're still teenagers), but I did see a future with her. I really started to love her, and not having her was, like you said- weird. Seeing her with someone else especially felt so strange. I can't even describe how I felt. I wasn't sad, I just found it... uncomfortable. It was an ugly break-up too, the kind that you throw away everything that reminds you of that person afterwards, but obviously, I didn't do that. In fact, I like the nostalgia that it inspires.
People react to heartbreak/sadness in different ways. It might hit you right away, it might develop when you see her with someone else. Or if you're like me, you'll never feel anything, but you'll think about her often. I think that's my way of grieving. I don't know, I'm weird.
Hopefully you'll be fine and you'll find someone new soon. I met other people after her, but have yet to feel what I felt with her. whatever that was. |

man that sucks... Same here. She dealt with a lot of abuse at the hands of another guy. Now she deals with a lot of self-hatred and depression on so many levels. I've seen her so close to the edge, or on the edge, so many times. I've always been the only one to help her, because I was the only one she ever opened up to. So I just hope she can handle it all on her own now. Because regardless I still care deeply about her. |
