Greatest Rock Critic Of All Time?

Some call Piero Scaruffi a genius, some call him a madman. Most call him both. Either way, it's worth checking out the music he rates highly, as most of it is very good. I've found a few of my favorite albums through him. First 25 are in order, after that is random. Albums without comments, I have not heard myself. List is rock albums he has rated 9.5/10 and 9/10. Note that he has never given a 10/10 to any album.
1Captain Beefheart
Trout Mask Replica

Crazy album. Three years, and I'm still trying to wrap my head around it.
2Robert Wyatt
Rock Bottom

Personally, I think this is the greatest rock album of all time.

4The Velvet Underground
The Velvet Underground & Nico

Here there be 9.0s.
Such a great album.
5The Doors
The Doors

Personally disagree, but it's a pretty good album.
6Popol Vuh
Hosianna Mantra
7Pere Ubu
The Modern Dance

SO GOOD. Seriously, if you haven't heard this, check it out. Most people say Dub Housing is better. Those people are WRONG.
8Royal Trux
Twin Infinitives
9 John Fahey
Fare Forward Voyagers (Soldier's Choice)

Download this, you won't find it anywhere. Hopefully 4 Men With Beards will reissue this after the reissue Fahey's America.
11Tim Buckley
12The Red Krayola
The Parable of Arable Land

Free-form freakout indeed.
13Klaus Schulze
14Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
The Good Son

Personally, it's my favorite Nick Cave album.
15Lisa Germano
Geek the Girl

Better than Cure for Pain. Don't you deny it.
17Bob Dylan
Blonde on Blonde

I've never really gotten into Bob Dylan.

Glad to see this on here. Greatest No-wave album ever.
21Van Morrison
Astral Weeks

No, Moondance is not better than this. It's still great though.
22The Residents
Not Available
23The Pop Group

Since they're back together, maybe we'll eventually see a reissue of this and their other album. Hopefully. Knowing the Pop Group though, there's probably very little chance.
24Vampire Rodents
Lullaby Land
25Husker Du
Zen Arcade

I'm not sure if this or Double Nickels is my favorite punk rock album.
26 Third Ear Band
Third Ear Band

No page for these guys Sputnik? Really?
27Bruce Springsteen
The River

Great album. I need to check out Born to Run.
28Hash Jar Tempo
Well Oiled

New favorite album.
29 Butthole Surfers
Psychic... Powerless... Another Man's Sac

Yessss. So much better than Locust Abortion Technician.
30Soft Machine

The Moon in June is amaaaaaziiiiiiiing.
31Type O Negative
Slow, Deep, and Hard

Good, but I still think Master of Puppets is better.
32Frank Zappa
Uncle Meat

Never heard this one. Will get around to it eventually.
Double Nickels On the Dime

Oh, maybe Repeater's my favorite punk album. I DON'T KNOW.
35Mercury Rev
Yerself Is Steam
36The Gun Club
Fire of Love

Wait, Fire of Love too? Now I really don't know.
37Red House Painters
Down Colorful Hill

Just listened to this last weekend. I think it should be ranked higher.
39My Bloody Valentine

The last extreme rock album? Probably.
40The Velvet Underground
White Light/White Heat

Methinks this is here on the strength of Sister Ray. I agree though.
41Captain Beefheart
Safe As Milk

Pretty good, doesn't quite rank with the other albums here, I think.
