05.02.13 | Seen Full Metal Jacket, Eden Lake, Amores Perros and American Psycho a LONG time ago, the rest I'm looking forward to viewing. |
ILJ
05.02.13 | I've never heard of Antichrist until very recently but its title interests me
Just watched Mulholland Drive for the first time. |
BigPleb
05.02.13 | Its supposed to be quite a graphic showcase, seen parts of it.
What did you think man? |
ILJ
05.02.13 | I'm still trying to wrap my mind around it. It was one of those movies where it seems kind of pointless up until the last half hour where things start getting a bit weird. It was pretty good though, I'll definitely need to watch it again.
|
BigPleb
05.02.13 | Yeah it needs repeated viewings, the dialogue is fantastic. If you end up deciding you like it, you should check Lynch's other work. |
tempest--
05.02.13 | dude do you even blu-ray |
BigPleb
05.02.13 | Na man, a lot of great films aren't available on blu ray. |
Rowan5215
05.02.13 | Good job for getting 3 it's a fucking great film. Haven't seen the rest. |
tempest--
05.02.13 | BUT IT'S SO MUCH BETTER
It's like the difference between 128 kbps and FLAC.
Most recent thing I bought was Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Blu-ray. |
BigPleb
05.02.13 | I did 5 in college for a piece of coursework, I'd recommend anyone to see it if you like foreign cinema. |
MrElmo
05.02.13 | Never had a dvd collection and ain't got the skin to watch anything on blue ray. Awesome you toke Enter the Void, I love that movie but to further enjoy it I would recommend a few beers or some grass, it definitly helps... |
manosg
05.02.13 | Nice list Leb, I see that you're a film lover. Do you watch any old film noirs? |
BigPleb
05.02.13 | Haha, I'll keep that in mind.
@Maso A bit yeah, I've seen La Haine which was very noire, great movie too. |
MrElmo
05.02.13 | Ultimate noir film is "Du rififi chez les hommes", a french classic in terms of gangster noir films, but it's hard to find |
manosg
05.02.13 | Sunset Boulevard is also an amazing noir. |
BigPleb
05.02.13 | Yeah, that is hard to find :/ |
Vakarian12
05.02.13 | I didn't like 3. Thought it was absolute bollocks.
Love 7, haven't watched it in a few years though. |
BigPleb
05.02.13 | Really? Heard a lot of great things about The Crow. |
Vakarian12
05.02.13 | yeah its suppose to be a classic, didn't like it though. After half an hour of cringing I turned it off and threw it to one side. Hopefully you'll have a better time with it. |
BigPleb
05.02.13 | Well it was only 79p haha, so won't be pissed off if I don't like it. |
BillTheButcher
05.03.13 | i bought/watched the collection last night. sequel to the collector. it was a fun movie. opening dance club sequence is one for the books |
BallsToTheWall

demigod!
05.03.13 | 4 and 7 rule. Havent seen the rest. I hear Antichrist is all kinds of fucked up. |
BigPleb
05.03.13 | Watched The Crow last night, it fuckin rules.

ButteryBiscuitBass
05.03.13 | The Crow is fucking epic. |
Hyperion1001
05.03.13 | not buying blu ray in 2013 |
omnipanzer
05.03.13 | 1 was way better than I expected, you just need to get through the first 20min or so. |
omnipanzer
05.03.13 | 2 is a little hard to get through at times.
Replay value on 1 and 2 are very low, I doubt you'll watch them more than twice in the next decade unless you are very active with drugs. |
omnipanzer
05.03.13 | "not buying blu ray in 2013"
Me either, price needs to come down some more, dvds are just fine for the next few years imho. |
Hyperion1001
05.03.13 | gaspar noe is one of the most innovative filmmakers currently making movies
von trier was doing cool stuff for a while but he seems to have become wrapped up in his own infamy and keeps repeating themes and ideas |
omnipanzer
05.03.13 | Agreed, I have Irréversible on DVD and I loved it but again I opened it, watched it once and there it sits. It'll probably be years before I watch it again. |
BigPleb
05.03.13 | Yeah I've seen Irreversible once, never will again.
Its a film you watch as an experience, not to enjoy. |
omnipanzer
05.03.13 | Don't get me wrong, Enter the Void has a far different vibe to it by comparison. I really enjoyed it a
lot more than I expected (4/5) and it is way more colorful and redeeming than Irréversible. You leave
it with a really nice feeling, you don't get that with Irréversible, not at all. |
BigPleb
05.03.13 | I felt like I'd been hit over the head with a fire extinguisher after Irreversible (bad joke). But yeah, Noe's work does leave some sort of 'impression' on you when the film is finished. |
