Neon

Erra's worst album, it takes what worked on Drift and creates something so bland. Nothing hits, no hooks get caught in your ear like the previous release. More of JT going through the motions, defintely the low point in the bands discography. I almost fall asleep in the first ten seconds of the album with how cliche it sounds.

ERRA

I'll be hated for this, but this album didnt do much for me at all. I realize I am just not a fan of JT's vocals, and it's hard for me to get through this album becuase of it. There are certainly some bangers like Gungrave and Snowblood, but i dont like the Tool-esque riffs on certain songs and thier attempt at a proggier/djent sound, doesnt work imo. The cheesy arpegiated synths that make way into a heavy riff gimmick gets old on this, and it seems to be continuing on the new singles.

Augment

The follow up to Impulse was hailed as a huge improvement by many fans at the time, but to me it fell flat. Feels like Impulse 2.0 in almost ever way, and the songs really start to blend together here. Sounds like a band hitting the ceiling of what thier style can offer, and i dont revist it much. Production feels slightly worse here somehow, but it sill offers an onslaught of melodic riffs.

Drift

Erra's first album post the departure of second guitarist and sonwriter Alan Rigdon and harsh vocalist Garrison Lee, Drift is certianly a "Jessie" album...apparently it remains his favorite Erra album to date. It's a refresh point in the band's sound and line-up and is quite the grower. In fact, i didnt like this album when it released, but love it now. Biggest weakness here is the harsh vocal delivery from JT which is so monotonous and made me miss Garrison. Regardless, Drift holds the bands most beautiful and uplifting songs. The production is less plastic and sounds more natural, clean guitars take more of a lead and Jessie sings ALOT. Jessies voice really starts to hit it's stride here and some of the songs are truly uplifting.

Impulse

A band whose debut album remains thier best. Jessie and Alan had an aweomse guitar blend on this and Alan's melodic riffage is missed on later albums. Only real weak spot are Jessie's clean vocals which stray into a forced high range that he cant quite pull off and samey vocal hooks. The album is crushing while maintaining beautiful melody. There is no doubt this album pushed a new sound in metalcore at the time and influenced many bands, tho few if any nail the sound.
